It's good to find a KZbin video about Jersey with a commentary, especially one so fluent and largely accurate. I don't believe that Corbière Lighthouse's paraffin lamp was "huge" - I've seen it - the Fresnel lenses surrounding it magnified its light. During the German occupation, the lamp was lit on demand from the German Navy's convoy officers, I believe, so that it was available when a convoy was passing. One such German order quoted by Michael Ginns in "Jersey Occupied" was for Corbière to be lit for 45 minutes.

At 19:02, the "gun emplacement" was a Type 606 searchlight bunker, with the searchlight housed with its stationary generator and extension lead where the grey doors are. It was deployed from either of the octagonal low-walled enclosures in the foreground. The now-blocked smaller doorway to the right of the searchlight garage was the entrance to a crew room. complete with bunks and basic accommodation. (Info from "The Atlantic Wall in Jersey" by Paul Burnal.)

Of course, it wasn't an "extension lead." I should have called it an electricity supply cable. Apologies!

I love Jersey, been many times. Going back in September, first time since before you know what. I'm thinking of visiting Guernsey if we can whilst we are there, do you get a ferry over - probably a silly question! Lovely vlog and learnt some very interesting things, thank you

Thanks so much for your kind comments. Yes, get the ferry, you can either go with Condor as mentioned in the video or there's a French company who do the trip too, we went with them. You can fly too, but it's quite expensive about £80 for a 10 minute flight! On the boat it takes about an hour. The only thing I'd say about the ferry is that the time you get is quite short, about 5 hours, which really speaking means you just look around St. Peter Port. It's a beautiful town though and well worth a visit.

@@simonguettier ahh thank you - hopefully will manage to get there! Won't be flying, I don't think! Only cost £55 for return flights to Jersey from Liverpool - have had them for as cheap as £11 in the past! Thanks again, will let you know if I do get there

At 22:43, the cliffs are, disappointingly, no more than 440 feet high (according to the six-inch OS map where the Island's "Highest Point" is marked at les Platons, a little inland from the cliffs themselves.)

Before you get bombarded by angry Jersey beans, it’s technically the Channel Islands, not Isles.
