This pinball looks darn solid. Best thing since labyrinth ive seen. We all know xmen has the gottlieb playfield and that muzac and bad animations. I wouldn't consider that until its fully complete and we know what the heck were actually getting. This looks mostly complete and full game. And a full experience. Lights call out movie assets. Music all immersive.

So do the shots feel good or not? I find John Wick very bad. I brick a ton on that game.

Shots are good I just need more time in it to get the shots. This is 5x better than Wick.

JW is very challenging, I purchased LE #36 in June and have played it daily. About 1600 plays. It ticks me off left and right but is fun. I also have JJP Wonka LE, and The Hobbit Gold Smuag edition. Hobbit is pretty packed and the underplayfield looks almost as packed as avatar. I do like JJP build quality over Stern. Might have to buy Avatar CE 😊

The game is beautiful. Can't take that away from JJP.. Having said that - I watched you play and none of it seemed like an exciting experience. Was more like a 'pinball strategy' game where you are hitting targets strategically to make things 'happen'. I saw a number of shots attempted and not made. This is not a reflection on you as you are a good player - even though it's new for you - it seems difficult to make the shots and get immersed in excitement. I was about to pull the trigger on Elton John Collectors edition - but waited to see the play of Avatar. As simple as Elton is - it's immersive and an exciting play. Just my .02 of course - I really appreciate you doing the video. The marketing video from JJP had me really into it.. May purchase, but going to get an Elton first. Thanks for the video!

I dunno man I still think its uncanny x-men. You feeling good about Avatar CE? X-men is just so unique, brings something to the collection that no other game can. I think X-men will be very, very popular. The stream was kind of a disaster but most importantly it looks like it shot amazingly. Stern will work on the code. There are definitely a lot of shots on Avatar, but we have seen again and again that more shots and flippers just isn't necessarily more fun and a better game. Seems quite clunky but how did it feel? I think I would rather have Elton John than this, and that can be had for $13k already.

Xmen is unique for stern but for pinball generally there's nothing new or unique about it. Every feature has been ripped off from other games. Different in pinball rarely ever translates to better. Hence why we rarely get designs that sway too far from the norm. But... buy what you dig.

I got both Xmen and avatar and sold hobbit and scooby. Elton’s great and coded very good. With more code avatar could beat Elton I think in shots at least.

@@pinballlover OK well that solves the dilemma! I thought I saw you say you cancelled X-men. I really want a JJP I am just having a hard time deciding which one. Kind of holding out for the one with the boy from England :)

@@johneldridge1345 bit cynical to say that there is nothing new or unique about x-men. It seems to me like the most unique playfield since like the 80s. Seems to shoot really well and has cool toys, but if it sucks it sucks. We are like 60 years into pinball design I think it is impossible to come up with some wholly original. But I don't think we have ever seen the figure 8 or crossover to under flippers to side playfield shots that x-men has. I applaud the creativity and am glad Stern like Jack Danger cook and do a cool playfield.

@colemangreen4191 yes I probably was a little harsh. My concern with JD games is the precedent set with FF. Initially applauded but it changes hands on the 2nd hand market like hot potatoes. Agree that hi deserves kudos for bringing back older designs outside the square. He definitely hasn't invented anything new. Like I said sometimes different doesn't mean better, and sometimes less is more. It's why games like iron man , metallica, and iron maiden are enduring titles. Nothing overly outrageous about them but they kill for popularity.

Again $12k and $15k price tag way too much. No mechs and just doesn’t look all that fun. They really should have put in an upper playfield.

@@pinballlover agreed. The market is still a bit frothy, but I just got a really good deal on a NIB LE. I think prices will be coming down next year. Just got to be patient. I have been seeing a lot of liquidation in a lot of different hobbies this year. I think during the pandemic people over bought a lot of things and now need the cash.

​@@pinballloverdepends, looking at this to foo fighters, foos is alot neater and I can breakdown everything that connects to each other. With avatar by the looks of it, I wouldn't be able to fix a problem without pully many other things out.

UV was the most interesting feature, but marketing seemed to amp up the effect with potential UV bulbs not included in game. Also ramps are usually important shots in the game and I think I only saw one complete ramp shot on the right. Even from the trailer that left ramp looks like it bricks quite a lot.

That is false marketing.. amping up the UV ink lighting on the playfield with an external UV light source is bad practice imho
