Parry's Jerusalem is one of my favourite hymns - the music incredibly moves to William Blake's poem, and colours an incredible painting for the listener.
Speaking of, William Blake was an English poet and artist from the early 19th century. It seems Blake was out of step of his contemporaries and the church at the time, and his works of literature and painting, for the most part, were not well received with exception of the incomplete illustrative works of Dante's Divine Comedy. It wasn't until many years after his passing that an appreciation of his works truly commenced. There's a lot of information available online about Blake's life and art, and it's an incredibly interesting read.
In the interim, I trust you enjoy the incredibly music of Parry.
