Somebody else pointed this out somewhere but one thing I like about that car scene is that it shows how emotionally intelligent Claire really is. She avoids bringing up the big shit like Mikey until Carmy himself steers the conversation there. She can sense that Carmy’s still not totally comfortable with her, so she frames the party invitation as a debt so he doesn’t feel too much pressure. There no lovesick pining: it’s all based on a foundation of mutual respect.
