Yeah Dean got worse..cheating on his wife, Rory got a little stuck up and was the other woman with Dean, but Luke and Lorelai were perfect so no need for growth there. Jk but those kids were good. 7th season was written by a complete different person and it shows because the characters aren’t themselves but that’s my opinion. I watched this one video where Rory went in the opposite direction of Jess like Jess started out bad and having no hope for his future with no one believing in him then he gets up and writes a book and makes something of himself while Rory starts out as a good student great boyfriends then she cheats with Dean drops out of Yale when her boyfriend’s father says she hasn’t got what it takes so why bother similar to Jess dropping out of school because why bother? I just like how they both got each other out of those situations. Rory shows Jess that he has potential so he uses it. Jess yells at her and reminds her that her not going to Yale is not who she is. Well anyway novel done thanks for reading. 😅😅

I still stand by my statement that she should have gotten together with Marty or someone that was kind and really wanted the best for her. But this dialogue in season 3 episode 4 when Lorelai is presenting to the class of high schoolers shows how many people use "getting a GED" as a way to increase their social status to those of other high school graduates, since not graduating high school is so frowned upon. BOY: Did you drop out when you got pregnant with Rory? LORELAI: No, technically, I didn’t drop out. I, uh, I kept going as long as I could while I got pregnant, which I would recommend to any girl. Jess is easily the most likable and sympathetic character. Yes he is not perfect but he grows and changes to become a better person especially considering what he has gone through it’s not said directly but insinuated that Liz is not a good mom leaving Jess to basically raise himself. He ends up being one of the most successful individuals writing his own book, forgiving his mom, and having a loving relationship with Luke. Not to mention the multiple times he’s knocked sense into Rory like when he convinced her to go back to Yale or write a book.

I see him as autistic with pda profile (based on how similar he is to people I know in real life with same) and that liz struggled to know how to parent someone like him. Normal parenting strategies do not work for pda at all, and parents usually struggle increasingly, esp as all parenting advice they are given will make things worse and the judgements they and their child face are intense and anxiety inducing and socially isolating. I like to think liz prob tried her best but was at her wits end. Jess finally found environments he could learn and thrive in - mainstream school usually will not suit a pda child, they need freer, creative atmospheres and freedom to follow their passion. When jess was free to do this he found a path for himself. Hopefully, if jess was a child today, liz and jess' teachers would learn about pda and more appropriate ways to parent and support him. There would still be lots of judgement from the world at large but things could have been a lot better at home and maybe liz wouldn't have turned to unhealthy coping methods like drugs and new partners which just created more instability for jess.
