That he was not more popular, as humans judge these things, says quite a bit of what you need to know about humanity. The world needs more Jesse Johnson.

I don't know how I never heard the extended version before. I used to love the video on BET. I was (still am) a Prince fan, but Jesse was sexy, too. 😁

He was quite involved with some of Prince's early stuff, and was a member of The Time.

Yeah Jesse was the one and only core producer, arranger, bassguitarist (The Time) and many Princes productions ,and finally he got his own productions , but the story tells that Prince was afraid of his talent and hid it from the tabloids.

Jesse Johnson is an important part of the Minneapolis sound but don't forget about Andre Cymone. If he had not disappeared from the performing side of music-he could have been the face of the Minneapolis sound, like Prince is today. In some large cities he was the most popular of them all. Still they all sound so much alike. I think that is part of the reason why Jesse did not sing for the "Time", only Morris Day did. one of the few stand outs was the wonderful and talented Alexander O'Neal.

@Tomei1 I agree nothing beats the 80's 90's up to 2010, As for being another decade like it , NO WAY, today's generations is all redo's & make overs of the original songs, in which it really sucks, because no one can make anything NEW Original songs. No music of today can't beat the original hits of 80s in any type of music!
