Hey Jesse, in regards to the first clip, you can also use process of elimination when it comes to geometry of trajectories. You actually completely eliminated any possibility that he was on the right side of the hallway. The grenade bounced off the far wall into you. The only way that could happen with that angle is if it had been thrown from the left side of the hallway. Since you immediately pushed out when the grenade landed, he could not have pushed to the right after throwing it without being seen/heard. It's something I use a lot in other FPS games to eliminate possible angles. I don't know if you saw it at the time, but I definitely picked up on it. Just a few tips because I know you're big on learning from mistakes.
@jackdud87933 жыл бұрын
this is very true, I was thinking the same thing during that clip because of how the grenade landed it didn't seem right for the possibility of them being on the right side. The one problem with that judgement is that there is still a possibility they may have duo team, where you can never really rule out angles because there can always be a sneaky little rat lurking in the shadows.

Hey Jesse, great video! I have a nice audio tip for you that could have helped you in your second clip near East wing 306. Right after you loot the duffle bag at 7:00 , you can hear him run on glass at approx. 7:05. This glass walk audio is a 100% indicator that he is coming from the stairs on the left side of the hallway, as it is the only staircase of the whole health resort that has glass shards on the third floor as you walk up. Cheers !

I am new to Tarkov and quickly learned over extending gets you killed. The first clip coms were dropped. Instead of pushing in you could have held right doorway from the room you pushed to establish coms, "Hey buddy are you alive, Im holding right doorway I need you cover left side, CROSS UP" It is a tactic called Crossing up your guns. Keeps people from pushing up while being in cover. Works real well out in open to protect each other's outside tape so you don't have to peek two sides.

I like this, going back and seeing what could be done differently, better or not at all. My sole addition is the sound cue of his feet shifting, at least to me (and granted I'm watching, not playing), told me he was left side of the hall. Technically you are correct. But for example in csgo commentators and content creatores use term "over peek" which is very similar to what happened on this video. Altho in csgo ur plan is to peek while exposing urself and eventually go back behind cover (sometimes this fails but this strat can work because enemy is aiming at the corner where they know enemy is likely to peek from and might miss/shoot limb instead of body/head cuz if expectations vs reality).. dunno if Jezze wanted to go back behind cover or stay exposed - depending of that u can call it peeking or just pushing

One thing I see many EFT players do (because the game allows it and it's rarely talked about) is that they basically play COD within EFT, and you all know what I mean. Sprinting, full auto mag dumping, frag spamming, not clearing corners, not clearing doorways, reloading when entering a room/building etc. and I've noticed that while this "fu** it just run in" playstyle can gain you net positive kills it often times has a steep fall off leading to situations where often times people will ultimately run to their death (knowingly or unknowingly) or mag dump so much so that they're out of ammo or close to it. Far be it from me to tell you how you should play EFT but I've experienced/witnessed numerous occasions where an enemy player could have killed me, flanked me, wounded me, etc. had their brain operated beyond the typical "haha smg go brrrr" mentality that COD has fostered. To be blunt one thing that'll help many people is to simply stop running to your death, unless of course that's what you preffer.

only thing I don't quite understand in 1:21 is you hear audio queue on the left side, see the nade hit from an angle that can only come from the left side in order to curve against the wall the way it did, you instantly push out (which was very good) but towards the end believe for some reason he could be on the right side, I love these videos and the breaking down of it all but for the first time this definitely had me a bit confused.

If you could have and often do make plays like that then good on you, my bad. But it just seems like an insanely high level of play that not a lot of people can achieve. For people that don't know, the first death is a common mistake made in games like CSGO and Valorant. Instead of wide peeking every angle at the same time, you are supposed to "slice the pie" which means to check each angle individually from either right to left or left to right without exposing yourself to the other angles. You can also jiggle peak quickly without shooting just to gather information. Hope this helps.
@samuelobrien99263 жыл бұрын
That’s all fine and dandy but we all know of a little thing called timing, no matter how many times you check an angle the minute you push out you get peaked from the angle you just cleared or say and watched for eons.

A very good lesson from the first Beyond The Grave is geometry. The way the grenade bounced off the wall to where you were let you know that he was on your left. It would be impossible for someone to throw that grenade from the right. Once you pushed past the cover to block the nade, and you didn't see him reposition to the right, you knew he was left. You already had the information you needed, without hearing steps or anything. Like this comment so we can all learn from grenade geometry!

Hey, just a couple of things to think about (just a few thoughts from a different perspective), in the first fight you actually overextended when you walked up to the cabinet thing, because you had no retreat and had to push. It was actually quite likely that the guy would kill you instantly for pushing. In this scenario, you've got a teammate and the aggressive push isn't as necessary as it would be when playing solo. Also, you had enough information to know that the guy in the first fight was on the left hand side of the hallway, because of the where the vog bounced. If you have nowhere to retreat and must push, that info would give you reason to pre-fire the angle and hopefully cross safely in the event that the angle is actually held. With the second fight, I'd say that you're right on about why you died, if you'd had a nade to use for the peek, that might've gone better but that's just how it goes. Anyways, just some constructive criticism, maybe it helps, maybe not lol.

While watching it, I never thought he could be right side there. Granted, there could be a second guy, and being careful pays off in Tarkov - but if you go in like this you're committed to the confident/cocky play, and I think from the way the nade bounced you could have deduced he would be left. I try to learn from vids like this but I find it mostly comes who spots who first and / or who gets the headshot off.

you see the grenade coming from the left side and bounce to the right wall so it should be pretty clear that hes probably on the left side, i guess we dont think like that in a intense situation

I'm good at close range combat. And pretty good at long range sniper rifles. But I seem to be straight trash at the mid range 30-50 meter fights. I can't figure out why.
@HoratioAccel4 жыл бұрын
Probably recoil. At close range recoil doesn't matter and single tapping at long range recoil doesn't matter. At 30-50m the person with the best first shot (head, eye) or the lowest recoil gun will win.

Haven’t been here ina while, still heavily slept on in the tarsky community. That’s coming from a “vet” that doesn’t gain much from these tips.

u could look at the angle he tossed the nade and u could have a better guess at where he is

Hey Jesse, Peeker advantage is almost the sole responsible for your death. Love tarkov but as a CS:GO Global / R6 Champion, I think its a shame to build up that much stats, cool effetc etc and having a shitty netcode hosted on shitty servers (GoDaddy xD) making the gun plays so lame. I have 4.5 K/D first wipe because peeking is always gonna win. Its lame.

You forgot to mention, the trajectory of the grenade gave his position away. Not necessarily his specific location but the direction. Although this is only applicable if you saw the grenade, notice how it bounces as if it was thrown on the left side of the hall. Its impossible to throw the grenade off the wall like that if he was on the right, but again, this only works if you saw the angle of the grenade. Great video nonetheless.

I always die like this, it feels like a gamble i take everytime where im hoping my reflexes win me the fight instead of peaking the door with a tight angle or maybe hear the other player. too aggro kills me everytime but it makes for some satisfying squad wipes

On that first clip, if you think about the way that grenade flew in, there was no way the guy was on the right.

We have a different playstyle, so take everything with a grain of salt (I only run solo, you duo alot). I noticed, that you needed to take your time with those peaks. Usualy, I wait at those coreners for audio, so I can already aim in the direction that they will most likely be. Then wait a little longer, because usualy people will peak, and when they dont see anything they start to run. Then when you hear them running, or jumping, then is the right moment to peak out. Its a tactic that NoFoodAfterMidnight (the ammo chart guy) often does, especialy in halways, and it works more often than not. With your first death, you can hear him beeing on the left before the nade came (also, you could miss that because of your duo partner, but rewatch at 1:20, the step is at 1:22), but the mistake was, that you were unsure where he was after peaking out of that room. Just wait a few seconds, because the guy will make sound (you can hear him while Jesse walks out of that room) , its an open fight. Then peak out when you know where he is. Compared to your second peak, where you basically aim at the wall on the other side of your door, instead of where the sound came from. Its usualy a sign that you are in "Rushing" mode. Play a little bit slower and wait for sound. Thats basically my advice.

Any idea on when we'll get a left-right weapon position swap?
@ithomas77883 жыл бұрын
Probably won't happen. Number of reasons why but namely the game is "realistic". Nobody does this in real situations. You don't put your gun into your weak hand and use your non-dominate eye to aim in almost any situation. It's awkward, most weapon systems are not ambidextrous, and it might throw off aim dramatically. You can train to do it sure I guess but it's still gonna feel off aiming with a non- dominant eye and trying to mag dump and such. I learned swat tactics and room clearing and such from school and there was never a situation where I thought gee I wish I was a lefty so I could do so-and-so it just didn't happen. It would be cool if tarkov had a setting to switch to lefty in the main menus but switching mid game seems awfully unrealistic.

To me pushing an enemy does not equal peeking, and the problem in both videos wasn't a peek but an aggressive push. All we can learn here is peeking a corner to get intel on your enemy = good, pushing your enemy without having any intel on his whereabouts = bad

retrospect is 20/20 and idk if I would have made the correct call myself.... but you know the nade bounces off the wall... he could have only threw it from the stairs side.
