i bought the same lift but mine has 3/4” radius corners on it. when they t cones to installing these lifts, it would be much much easier if JessEm made the top with a 1/4” radius because everyone has 1/2” diameter router bits. the method you used by temporarily attacking boards around the edges and using a 1/2” diameter bit is a no-brainer. i don’t understand why they make it difficult for us sometimes. i have to say that the JessEm lift is really high quality.

Nice vid. I just ordered the mast r lift II as well. My table top was originally set for the rocker 8 1/4 plate but the mast r lift is a 9 1/4 plate so I need to make my opening bigger. I noticed that the Mast R Lift has 10 leveling screws. I didn't see you place anything in the lip for the leveling screws. Did you not do that or forgot to add it to the video?

Am fed up with my benchtop router table, adjustability is horrible. So I've already decided I want the Master lift 2, but the full table /lift/fence combo is a wallet buster. But if I can buy a sheet of melamine and just the lift/fence it starts looking much more affordable. My only concern is the adjustment screws going directly into the routed out melamine? Are these going to hold adjustment? Also liked your method for measuring/cutting the mounting hole, great idea. New sub!

Thanks for the instructions, do you care about the gap you have in the corners from using that 1/2" template bit?
@CoffeyCustomBuilds
@CoffeyCustomBuilds 4 жыл бұрын
Nope. I didn't want to buy the bit for it especially since this isn't the final home of this lift. I will be building this into the wing of my table saw some time this year. Also, it has cause exactly zero issues with the gap. It's purely cosmetic.

Coffey Custom Builds Great video! When are you doing the table saw insert video? I have a Jessem lift and once I have some time, I will be building the router table insert on my Rigid TS3650. Still deciding on surface material....leaning toward Baltic Birch, but the melamine surface you made here has me intrigued. How did you avoid chip out on the router cutout? Also, on your insert build, how will you tackle the 1 1/2 “ round edges of the lift for a snug look? Thanks for your time.

Thank you for the video, I have a question. You didn't show the fit at the corners, how did you know what bit to use and that it would match the contour of the corners?
@CoffeyCustomBuilds
@CoffeyCustomBuilds 4 жыл бұрын
The fit in the corners wasn't perfect. The information exists online and I don't remember what size bit you need to obtain the perfect fit. However, it hasn't been an issue for me. There is a small amount of sawdust in there but it's not a big deal. The bit I would have needed to make it perfect would have been $20. I decided to forgo that and haven't regretted it.
@b1j
@b1j 4 жыл бұрын
The lift’s plate has about a 3/4” radius at the corners. You could start forming the inset with a 1-1/2” Forstner bit at each corner, down to the depth of the plate plus the 1/16” leveling gap at the bottom. Then complete the edges of the inset with the flush-trim router bit as in this video. Or you can buy JessEm’s MDF template that has the corner curves in it. An extra $30 or so, but a real time saver.
@CoffeyCustomBuilds
@CoffeyCustomBuilds 4 жыл бұрын
that's a great solution!
@b1j
@b1j 4 жыл бұрын
Coffey Custom Builds Mike, you need a 3/4” OD guide bushing and a 1/2” flush-trim bit to use the JessEm template, because it has a 1/8” clearance all around. Or a steady hand with a big Forstner bit, unless you have a deep drill press.
