Honestly I feel like the Kane Chronicles are so slept on. It was great for me when they came out because the main characters are biracial and it tackles racism, colorism, and the ways that those issues can affect family tension and experience. These books were so diverse with character backgrounds and issues and this came before his newer diverse books. It shows his dedication and how much he cared from the beginning. They deserve the acknowledgment lol. Also I loved the usage of Egyptian mythology. I think he used it creatively and it definitely has its own life apart from the Greek mythology series. I’ve been thinking about rereading them (since I read them in middle/high school) so I think I’ve convinced myself while trying to convince the world 😂

I do LOVE The Kane Chronicles and I wish more people would read them. Idk about a name for your dagger, but to clean the rust off: a quick Google search told me white vinegar or a paste made from baking soda would work, if you want to DIY it. I'm not 100% sure if this will work (sadly I don't have a dagger or much experience with metal) but do some research and try it! It looks really cool!!!

To be honest, The Kane chronicles did not live up to my expectations. It was good, yeah. But it didn’t give me the feels like all the others did. I couldn’t connect with the characters as much as I’d like to, and I just couldn’t come to like Sadie. (Sadie fans don’t hate me) But of course, that’s just my opinion. Other than that, it was a pretty good read overall. P.s: The burning maze is 😭

Why you should read the Kane chronicles: 1. Super fun, adventurous and educational (like all of Rick's books) 2. It is unique among Rick's books in that it is his only series that does not have demigods. Instead, there is this entirely different magic system with using internal magic vs. channeling the magic of the gods (which is illegal- there is also a political system for these magic users which is in upheaval) and possessions and all kinds of rules and limitations. It's really interesting. 3. Amazing brother/sister relationship 4. Every single book is written as if it were a recording that Rick had transcribed (not like a play, but there are warnings at the beginning of each book and brackets with comments not part of the story, i.e. [give me the bloody mic, Carter] throughout the story) which is fun. 4. Gods play a more active role in this series. They appear more than in his other books. They are more helpful, but also more human, if that makes sense. 5. There are some REALLY insane plot twists that will honestly make you go WHAT?!?!? (It is possibly the most out there series of Rick's) 6. The finale is soooo good! The thing is, all of Rick's finales are fantastic, but they tend to be fantastic in the way that all of his books are. This tends to disappoint many people who believe a series finale should go above and beyond. The Kane chronicles finale DEFINITELY does go above and beyond.
