For those who say, "I'm an immigrant too," I tell them not to gaslight me because I came here legally. The difference between me and some of the other immigrants, even some of the legal ones, is that while I was waiting for my green card for five years, I didn't have as many privileges as I do now as an American citizen. Still, I loved America then and still do to this day. Finally, ten years after I got my immigration status, I studied for my citizenship exam, aced it, and became a citizen. I continue to love my country, the USA.
