@@jessica_0117 And dont you feel you need to explain your desire to get them exactly right... watching perfect technique is how we learn. Can I ask what sort of bit youre using on efile, and brand of handfile if you know? I have a near identical looking ceramic bit but it seems a lot tess precise than yours. I do also have a nice set of Russian mani cuticle bits from ENailCouture which I use for fine shaping at cuticle.

Great video! Dual forms can look perfect on the top but the underside can be a lumpy mess if you can't get it to flatten enough. This video was well needed! I love that you explain why it can take so long to do any set of nails, especially for DIY nails. Even when I was still a working nail tech it always took me around 2 hours to do my tips and acrylics, I wanted perfection. Now that I'm retired and switched to gel, it may take me 2 days. I'll do all the cuticle and prep work in an hour at night, get up in the morning and when I"m fully awake, start with either a fill or new set. A new set can take me a couple hours to put on and another hour of filing ( I take a lot of breaks, I have a very bad spine) but when they are done to exactly what I wanted, I'm happy. So, all of you out there, listen to Jessica, take as long as you need to perfect your nails. No one is keeping score. : )

@@jessica_0117 You know what I mean perfectly! It's easy to work at your own pace at home. And thank you about my spine, unfortunately I have Degenerative Disc Syndrome, 3 bulging discs between C3-4, 5-6 and 7-8 and 2 lower Lumbar. I wear a back brace a lot.

I take a long time to do my nails too! I always want to be faster but in the end I'd rather have them be perfect than quick; so I take my time. Your shaping is perfect! It just goes to show that even a simple set of nude/pink nails can be gorgeous when they're done right!

Lol acceptance is key! I did my nails for at least five hours last time I did them. But I had to remove an old set and do a whole new set and take a wine break, and find some nail art on insta and redo my middle finger twice because it looked crooked to me... Still so much better than the salon and getting my cuticles butchered and probably ending up with nails that are just ok.

Perfection takes time patience and precision. When something is rushed it never turns out right so it’s better to slow down and take your time. Can I suggest a bit for you to cut down time? That's more of a fine bit and not made debulking. Also you should use a 60/60 handfile! Less work and a crisper shape. 🤗

Im the same way w my nails! Sometimes I file for 2 or 3 days on them until I feel like they r perfect! I have a 1yr old so I can't get my nails done n one day and I won't let anyone else touch my nails!! Don't let the nasty hateful comments bother u...they r just jealous that your nails look better!! Filing straight downwards from the apex to the tip is such great advice. I tried it out today and it changed my nails to elegant looking nails! Also what you said about looking at it as a 3D sculpture was very helpful. Thank you so much!!!

Shaping is so important..Im doing my own nails and shaping is my biggest challenge..I've started taking several pictures with my cell as I file because I notice more of my imperfections in a photo and I can fix as I go. great video

Your nails are beautiful and your videos are great. I’m just learning myself since October watching YT videos, so I really enjoy seeing how someone does it themselves the first time too. It’s very educational. It sometimes takes me a week to perfect mine. If I notice a flaw I have to fix it. Lots of hours. But also therapeutic. I haven’t tried poly gel yet but I’m going to soon. I've been doing my nails on my own at home for a little more than a year now and I too take a very long time filing because I have a certain way I like mine shaped and I'm a bit of a perfectionist.
