When did you ever see Jackie Kennedy in an animal print? What about a pillbox hat, solid pastel dress, and little cardigan with pearls? John Lennon managed to look like Sonny Bono. Nothing about the Elton John outfit referenced anything that would cause a viewer to associate it with Elton John. The styling is the biggest issue here.
@Scarleto3 жыл бұрын
I was shocked too so I googled it and I guess Jackie wore an animal print coat with a matching pill box hat sometimes, or a black hat but it was NOT her most prevalent or iconic look by any means, like you said. And even then it's the coat, not the dress. And the hat. Like they got the silhouette COMPLETELY wrong. Jackie Kennedy in a animal print mini-dress and a mini jacket al;sdkfj Get that jacket off and girl is ready to hit the club! Those stylists got it so wrong, I just. What were they thinking? Did they even know who half these people were???? You are so right that the styling is the biggest issue in this shoot. You know what I bet they did it deliberately to sabotage the girls.

I also thought of Sonny before they said John Lennon. And it's SO easy to do an iconic John look - white suit, longer hair, better glasses, done. If you want psychedelic, go sgt pepper uniform. It's so easy. But almost all costumes looked extremely cheap and stupid, the only ones I really liked were Elisabeth I. and Andy Warhol - the latter mainly because his actual wig looked artificial too, so that worked. Maybe the Thatcher outfit, but not as Thatcher? Maybe Madonna. Jackie O is a disgrace. Elton John looked like me when I was 7 and dressing up with random stuff from our fancy dress box without any actual costume in mind.

When John Lennon went for his solo career outside of The Beatles, he released a song called "Imagine" and Yoko Ono starred in the music video, which became very well known (a lot of people view it as cultural relevant/iconic for a music video). In the video, Yoko Ono is dressed as an indigenous woman. As a result, most people who are familiar with the song and music video relate/connect John Lennon with Yoko Ono dressed as a native woman. I think that is what this photoshoot was trying to "emulate" although it really didn't come across well in the costuming. It would have probably been better for the creative team to just have the other model be Yoko Ono rather than Pochantes, since (as far as I know) Yoko Ono wasn't specifically trying to dress up as a particular native person for the music video. There is a lot that could be discussed about that music video by itself, but this photoshoot handled the concept so poorly on top of that! If you would like to check out the video, you can find a copy by searching on KZbin "John Lennon Imagine (Official Music Video 1971)"

As an historian I feel like many of those characters were pretty much impossible to work with. George washington in mini skirt jumping in the air? Jackie Kennedy in a leopard print one shoulder dress? It's so hard to portray an historical figure with a good outfit, getting their body language right, now add to that those shitty costumes and trampoline... that's just unfair. Also, many of those characters have nothing to do with each other, which makes the photo as a whole (and I'm sure the modelling for it too) very odd to look at. Andy Warhol and Amy Winehouse? John Lenon and Pocahontas? Those pairs are so confusing and if I was the models I'd be thrown off by that.

Why is your comment underrated Annaliese. You're literally a top model legend. You appeared as a contestant on 2 different NTM franchises and went on to become the narrator for a few cycles of BNTM. You deserve more love here 🤩

Why would a Native American feel comfortable in a racist costume, portraying a child that was stolen and murdered? I need to watch every season and write down every racist and culturally insensitive comment, concept, etc. I don’t care how long ago this show started, the judges need to be held accountable for all of this.

Hey, Jessica. I love your reviews. It's quite interesting to see from a professional point of view. I love your humor when you review the show. Do you think you can review Cycle 8 episode 4? It's the murdered photoshoot. Basically the girls had to pretend to be crime victims. I'd definitely like to know your input about that episode. Thanks!

You should react to the time when Kelly told a model off for running in the set (they had a time limit anyways) and she quit the competition. But later on Kelly uploaded a video(it’s on youtube) with a bunch of other girls dissing the model and disrespecting her like a group of mean girls.

As a HUGE Spice Girls myself , the styling they gave Annaliese is not even Mel B signature look ... She should have platform shoes from the 90´s , the hair horns she had in Spice Up Your Life music video and the army pants and army top .. Then I would think it was Mel B , just a leopard dress and puffy hair? No ..

And back in the days she didn't even wear dresses, she had so many iconic looks they could've picked but no?! NO???!!! As a SG fan since the 90s, I'm insulted. 😤

I am not native American but I am a racial equality activist, and I have a problem with this challenge. Everyone else is a celebrity or people who have made history, and even though Pocahontas made history it's for all the wrong reasons, she was forced to marry some old white man when she was very underage. She isn't someone you should be doing a fashion photoshoot on. Not only that but culture should NEVER be a costume , that costume looked cheap and un authentic. I've seen some comments of native American people saying the same thing but if you think I'm out of line or incorrect please educate me.

I love ALL your content, but because I too was OBSESSED with ATM, I can't get enough of your reaction videos!!!!! You are so funny, in a dry and also kind way, I truly enjoy your videos, so thank you 🙏😁 Ok girl, you may NOT be a stylist and neither am I, however I had to agree with you in most cases, they didn't capture truly iconic looks from the truly iconic figures they chose 🤷I don't know, I have to agree with you that it seemed cheap, a missed opportunity AND yeeeeees, for heaven's sake, WHAT was with the teeny, tiny, mini Barbie trampoline, seriously...... don't EVEN get me started on the judges, I usually just bite my tongue because I know you'll have something clever to say pointing out all the flaws in their inaccurate statements!!!!! Love you, excellent video♥️♥️♥️

Girl! I really wish any models who have trauma from this show, would watch you and heal! You’re so helpful and funny! This show messed up my formative teen years and even seemed to help me be groomed for narcissistic abuse and body dysmorphia like you wouldn’t believe! Tyra was my “role model” pun intended and I really thought I was learning how to be beautiful and worthy through her “advice” and everyone’s feedback on this show. So of course I found, I could never quite measure up and thought so little of myself because of my body and looks. Your commentary has really helped me begin to heal and build my self esteem up again now that I’m 30. Thank you so much. ♥️
