You would think that Filipino hospitality would translate to customer service, but it's usually not the case. I find it odd. It's really difficult to return items (even defective ones) and get a refund in the Philippines compared to the US. And yes, you go to places like this and get treated like a hassle.

That happens pretty much to everyone who lives in big cities. Specially those living in Metro Manila. I am from Baguio City and I got my license renewed in less than an hour. I think the offices are more organized in smaller cities(plus the staff are kinder and approachable). 😅 Another perk is that the weather in our city is much colder than the other cities, so even if you wait in line for a few hours, you won’t get irritated. 😅

this is true and that is why I always renew my ids in the province. I renewed my DL last january(registered online and medical done outside) and only sat inside the local lto office for 5mins. After 5 mins of sitting I was called in one of the windows, validated my fingerprints and got my ID right away.

the problem with LTO is that they seem to forget to embrace digitalization by staying traditional with the steps and involving humans in some steps that can be digitalized. Yes they upgraded some things like longer validity to prevent occurring long lines though the problem will exist again and again if such volume of people register at the same time like many people who are starting to renew after this pandemic. The thing that is frustrating is that Driver registration should be simpler now since everything is connected and validating information such as medical test and driving test is much easier now. If they only focus on digitalization and properly distributing their budget during pandemic they should be good now.

everytime I watch vlogs of foreigners esp Koreans processing or making transaction in the Philippines I felt somewhat embarrassed and sad, it’s because you can really see how slow, disorderly, chaotic and uncomfortable the system here in the Philippines.. the long process, old-fashioned way of processing documents or anything seems like we are still living in the years 1970s to 90s...even that only proves that Filipinos are living a low quality of life everyday and it makes me sad..I hope that one day the everyday living of the Filipinos would also improve such as transportation or public commute, processing of documents, internet speed, healthcare, education and leisure facilities, wage, etc.

CONGRATS! When I was still in the Philippines it was like jumping through hoops getting documents/card/clearance. You have to take time off from work because you’d have dedicate your entire day for the quest. Instructions were not always clear, the personnel looked unhappy and mad when you ask them questions. When I moved to the US it was the exact opposite. I went to a college here. Requested my transcript ONLINE and it was mailed to me. I did not have to go up to a registrars office and be sent to so and so for their precious signatures and only to be told it would take weeks to a month to get the documents😒 Applying for a driver’s license here, same thing, there was a little bit of wait but the procedures were very straight forward. I hope there’ll be improvement in the future in my home country. Filipinos are hard working but the processes to get documents need some work.

This is what im dreaming for the philippines. To have an easy and fast process. I hope soon the government will provide more technology to the country. Well if we compare now and before i think theres a 30% improvement. Unlike before the process take weeks.

That’s amazing, you get your physical license immediately. My partner converted the license in the main office but only get a paper license. We are still waiting for the physical ones that’s already 2months of waiting.

Same frustrations as any ordinary Pinoy would go through. Pasensiya ka na, Jessica :) DEFINITELY, THINGS COULD BE BETTER IN GETTING OR RENEWING A DRIVER'S LICENSE!!!!

It's much better to get or renew your driver's license in provinces or smaller cities. It's more faster (2 hrs instead of 5hrs) especially when you have limited time, even though the LTO is more computerize now they still stick on the manual stuffs that's why it take atleast 5hrs in highly urbanised areas here in the phillipines

It's because these offices just hire people, tell them what to do but without any basic training on how to politely handle applicants in a much more organized and efficient manner. They bring stress to themselves which resonate towards these applicants.

That's what i don't like about going to Philippine government areas. They're almost always mad, they dont speak to you in a polite manner, some even shout and are terribly impatient. It's something that the Philippines can learn from the Japanese way of things.

I think it depends on the LTO branch..if you happen to apply for it in a city (people condensed areas) you'll probably spend the whole day for it.. But in a more rural areas, you can have it in less than a day..also, the day is also important, you gotta scout first which day has the least volume of people.. Finally, since you're probably be driving a little bit more often from now on, take care, be cautious, there are so many kamote drivers in the streets, don't expect that everyone is as mindful as you, drive as if you're the only one who knew the correct rules and regulations, that way you may avoid having a road rage scene.. Arguing with people in the streets when there's an accident sometimes doesn't end too well, like even if they're the one at fault they will still try to blame it on you, and that's a good excuse to lose patience, although its frustrating that you know you can't do that.. but hopefully we never go there.. Be safe everyone.

Wow, I won't complain about US DMV anymore after watching this. I'm a dual citizen, I was contemplating getting my license in the PH, but maybe I won't if my stay is just a month each time.

Congrats! It's a good thing you've gathered all the patience you need before ka ngpunta sa LTO 😊. I did the same thing before, i have dubai license and converted it to filipino license but mabilis lng ang process since pinoy nman ako. Natagalan lang siguro kasi foreigner ka. Atleast in the end success pa din! Drive safely!

My medical was bullshit. They just asked me to tell them my height and weight. And they listed me down as no need to wear glasses as i wore glasses in front of them. Then during the practical exam they instructor had 5 of us in the testing car and parked in an empty alleyway and said okay. 500 each. And boom we all passedm

That kind of attitude from the local employees here in the Philippines is kinda normal but it should not be tolerated, that's why I'm kinda scared going to those kind of places 'cause some or most of them are mad 😭

There is an LTO office in Tiendesitas (now called Ortigas East, I think). I renewed my license there, and it took me only about 30 minutes. I experienced this long wait when I applied for a student permit and for an actual driver's license. We were at the LTO in our municipality (in Rizal province) well before 8 AM, and we finished at around 4 PM. Anyway, congratulations on getting your Philippine driver's license.

I think that the Philippines LTO must be more organized (systematic--with guided instructions printed/clearly numbered steps on a board in the wall), be more rigid, and its staff to be professional. The most important thing though is the actual driving in the Philippines thoroughfares. Sometimes, there are lots of traffic hazards. You must be acquainted with all traffic rules here and some traffic signs which are somewhat crazy especially in busy streets in a city. Congrats Jessica for getting your Philippine driving licence! Happy and safe driving!🤗😄👌

Congratulations on getting your license! Sorry to hear that you had to go through a tough test here in the Philippines. -- patience test that is. But your experience is way quicker than that of other people. My worst photo id is my driver's license too and I'm pretty sure that everyone is as well. Having to spend a day or two with just waiting to be called from one window to another, plus the webcam resolution - goodluck sa picture! hahahah
