At 77 my grandson suggested I should do something with weights after two hip replacements. Jessica, I am also on a breast cancer journey. I was diagnosed with DCIS this fall and opted for lumpectomy (with bilateral reduction/lift) followed by radiation. My surgery was 3 weeks ago and radiation will start in a few weeks. I can totally relate to the feeling of walking around in a fog. Even though I am an RN and am familiar with much of the medical jargon, there is still so much that is new. Sending prayers for you in your journey.

Loved this workout! I’m definitely feeling more able to do strength training and want to incorporate it more often now. I think it’s my new favourite. I’m in Canada and can’t afford the courses you offer but you’ve helped me more than anyone else. Thank you for all your work Jessica. I feel so much stronger since starting in September of last year.

I love this 20-minute session. It's one of the few I have felt motivated to stay consistent with. The upright row, however, bothers my shoulders, and I'm looking for an alternative. I'm watching a Jeff Cavalier video where he explains the problems with upright rows - palms facing your body and lifting straight up along your body to shoulder height. Just a thought that there may be a better alternative for the shoulders.

Can you suggest a workout when you are ready to advance from the 20 minute full body workout with weights beginner? Day 1: my arms are burning and feeling lighter,cant tell if itll work on full body Day 2: did cardio but my muscles hurt all day Day 3: i did lifting but did it more clumsly and my muscles didnt hurt much Day 4: cardio Day 5: did lifting Day 6: i walked fast after each meal for 1h Day 7: was rest day Day 8: did lifting and i could do it in a proper way,my hands hurts more than anything though

I love this video. I feel like I had a good full body strengthening session. I had surgery for a full thickness rotator cuff tear six months ago and this seems like great continued therapy. Do you think as a physical therapist that the one overhead lift is ok for me? I know all the others are definitely safe. Thanks so much. I enjoy all of your videos.

Thank you for such a wonderful guided workout. I know I have a long way to go, but am optimistic. Expecting first grandchild in August. I need to be stronger. Question about lunges… I have a lot of weight in my legs and have bone spurs in both. Have 20% range of motion, feel unstable trying lunges. Any temporary modification I can try? Thank you 😊

Jessica, I will be 55 soon and although I am in pretty good shape ( thank to your channel, dog walking and my Eliptical) I also eat very healthy but my under arm is so loose and wrinkly. Can I hope for this to go away working with weights or is this something that I just need to accept?

I know they say no question is a silly one but some of the ones in this comment section are borderline 😅 use common sense. Obviously u can use whatever weights u feel comfortable with or the ones u have even if they are over 5lbs. And she means a pair 5lbs weights, 10lbs together

You are right I do talk a lot :)! I give a lot of instruction and direction to help encourage and keep people safe and that isn't for everyone! A warm-up isn't necessary for this workout but if you want one you can definitely go on a walk or bike ride or run before hand, or use one of my short Pilates workouts. Best wishes to you!

I just want to say I deeply appreciate your non-judgemental and accessible approach. I've never been in fantastic shape but being sedentary during early COVID lockdown had disastrous effects on my body and I've often felt hopeless, self-conscious, and just plain scared to work out ever since because traditional fitness culture can be very intimidating. I find your videos so helpful and your attitude so encouraging so thank you for sharing your work 💙

OMG love love love this class! I recently found out I have a prolapse of my uterus and I'm 69, no children. I've done yoga for years, in particular yin but I knew I needed to get back into pilates. I was gobsmacked that you had multiple prolapse and I found my pilates instructor!! I also badly needed to add weights, this was sooo perfect and will do over and over until I feel ready for the next level. Thank you for opening up and sharing your story.

👍Thank you Jessica. Just subscribed. Great explanations and not overly taxing. Great for beginners. Due to my work (hunched over a computer 8 - 10 hours a day sometimes) I have developed the most awful pains in my shoulders and back. This has lead to expensive massages several times a month. Last week I decided lifting a few weights after work would probably help. Within a few days I can feel the difference. Been searching all over YT for a routine to follow. Found yours the best. Aimed at my age group (50) and given I am now chronically unfit, I know I need to get stronger as I age for all the reasons you gave. Only managed 5 minutes so far, but early days and I am dealing with body stiffness and soreness. Look forward to building up over time.

Your videos are extremely positive and great for someone like myself. I have Hypermobility and my body keeps flaring up from extreme pain. A year ago I started weights at the gym and got strong but now weaker than before due to pain. I watched your Hypermobility video, are all your videos safe for someone with Hypermobility?
