Why doesn't this interviewer listen to what Jessie keeps saying when he keeps asking her how she "learned" how to sing for this movie: that she has sung professionally BEFORE doing this movie, that she had formal training as a singer, that Andrew Lloyd Webber hired her to sing the role of Nancy in the remake of Oliver?

The interviewer was asking about how she learned to sing country. Not how she learned to sing.

She's too modest to blow her own trumpet, but I should add, though it may seem strange to North Americans, country music is hugely popular in Ireland and Scotland. Jessie herself may not have been a country music fan or devotee, but she would have been exposed to it growing up. A lot of country music has its roots in Irish and Scottish folk music, among others, of course.
