This song strikes a personal note. In December 2005 my beautiful bandmate, singer, collaborator and I packed our equipment for a gig & drove to NYC, stayed at the Gershwin, and went out for an incredible night on the town. It was one of those dreamy moments of a lifetime when you can see the potentiality ahead together. We rocked the show the next night. Sadly, it was short-lived when her underworld behavior closed in on her and she died three months later. This song captures what we were going for musically, and speaks directly to the out-on-a-limb experience when you’ve got lightning in a bottle. I know very intimately the sacrifices and risks that went into the making of this video, and the ever present forces that threaten to tear it apart. Good on you, Jessie. You’re doing it right. You’re awesome.

Girl, your power and confidence in your performance is an inspiration to all! I love how the song is more focused on the versus than the chorus. It gives the song more depth, more substance. Far too many pop & pop rock songs are all chorus with hardly any versus which just feels empty to me. You sure can write a well composed song! 🍻❤️
