@@zulzul569 What an ignorant comment. What is your point exactly? Even younger artists like Ariana lip sync, and none of their songs are nearly as intricate as Mariah's. Mariah is in her 50s and she was born with nodules, and thus has to protect her voice whenever she can. But that doesn't mean she can't or doesn't sing. Listen to her fully live performances of I'll Be There or Vision of Love when she was on tour last year and stop spreading this "queen of lip sync" nonsense.

Hero is a misleadingly hard song to sing. When Mariah recorded it she had a very powerful belt. Mariah and Aretha Franklin were such strong singers in their primes that they would make incredibly challenging songs (like Hero and Ain't No Way, respectively) look easy - which fools people into thinking they're easy songs to sing when they're absolutely anything but

Ok so Jessie is one of my top 5 female singers in the present day! Hero is such a difficult song to sing, especially with the volumes of 'belts' in the song, however JJ got around this with her technical prowess (even if it wasn't in ideal circumstances and/or environment), and it was still a pleasure to listen to (and watch, as I secretly have a crush on her, but ssshhh don't tell her yeah?) I remember the original song being released in the Autumn of 1993 and I was 18/19 at the time, and fell in love with it. Apart from MC herself, there has no one else been able to 'mimi'c the song (see what I did there!) as good as JJ. On any other day JJ would have smashed this, and she knows herself she would have too ;)

Sure this song does not have too much upper belts. It only had 2 E5's. And a C#5s and B4s belts. But those runes, emotion and powerful sustained belt is what this makes this sign hard. No one could rlly sing this the way Mariah did. And to think hat Mariah even made this song alot harder in her live versions lol. (she added some G5's belts, F5s and also adding E5 sustained on that *The waaaaaaaaaaaAAAAAAYAY* on some live performances.
