It’s amazing how divergent tastes can be. Glasshouse is one of my all time favourite records, and I adored “Adore You” to the point of seeking out a vinyl single. The important lesson for music listeners is: A passionate appeal for what you love can flip the script on what is perceived as good and bad. There’s a fine line between homage and derivative - that line is often nothing more than the feelings of the listener. All the post hoc intellectual justification for what is good or bad is the mind shoring up the heart. So never feel bad if you don’t have the words to express love for what you love when you hear that others hate it. Whatever anyone says, it all started in feeling, and that is such a personal thing.

This is my favorite record of the year, by a mile. I love dance of all flavors, & by God, does she nail every style she goes for. From more traditional, laid-back & classical stuff like Spotlight, to Paula Abdul & Prince-flavored excellence on tracks like Soul Control...there’s not a single song I dislike on this. Saw this at the top of your list for 2020, and I thought "oh, should give this a shot." Before watching the review, I listened to the record and thought "wow, this feels like such a throwback to the more tasteful, poppy electronic music that I felt like I heard growing up." It felt so infectious for that reason, and I don't listen to this kind of music often at all. After hearing the first few minutes of the review, I'm glad I'm not the only one who felt some sort of nostalgia listening to it, as vague as the feeling was.

A lot of good poppy albums don't have good staying power for me, and that's what sets this one apart IMO. It's got a great, appetising opening track, an even greater closing track (which is a positive song, but also melancholy because you realise that the album experience is now about to end), and it barely sets a foot wrong in between those two bookends, but standing the test of time is what's going to keep it really high up in people's best-of-2020 lists. I'm not sure what it is about the songs that give them that quality, but I can just tell that 20 years from now I'll be able to play it and enjoy it from start to finish. That's pretty rare these days.

It makes me happy to see this review because, after all these years, I remember that you were the one that put me on to her in the first place!

What’s my pleasure? If Melon made an only fans account.

Well.. I still remember she appeared from nowhere to my you tube play list.. Remember I was just wearing my earphones and doing my thing at the office.. and then I had to stop what I was doing cause of the sophisticated sound, I clicked on the video and there it was.. Spotlight. As soon as I got home, went to my room and laid on my bed to listen the whole thing.. and I can defenitely say this is the best album I've ever heard. I'm not ashamed to admit it. Thanks universe for letting me listen to this masterpiece. Thank u for ur review as well. Greetings from Colombia.

The Top 10 List is strong with this one!! I really dig her music and I always had the feeling that she was born in the wrong era - in the 90s she could have been on the same fame level as Whitney Houston

I agree this is her best record yet. This was the comeback I was waiting for. Jessie lost at some point but I am back. This album has been on rotation since the singles dropped.

A 9 being this celebrated leads me to believe a 10 in 2020 is going to destroy the coronavirus and end racism.

Another album you’ve introduced me too that I love now Melon. Keep doing this because I get so excited when I hear a good album for the first time. More of a hip hop listener but this could be the top album of this year for me at this moment

Like Charli XCX, Melon wasn’t a fan of the early work but now gives the recent release AOTY.

This album deserves all the praise it gets. It's thoughtful, exceptionally well-executed, be it in terms of production, songwriting and vocal performance, highly accessible without still managing to sound fresh, and inspiring at places, particularly the last track. Melon's description of how he felt about 'Remember Where You Are' was spot-on for me.

The only good thing about this year is the amount of times Anthony has worn the yellow flannel
