Jessie J is the first and only person to tell me that it's ok not to be ok. I can never thank her enough for that. Edit: It’s been four years since I wrote this comment. I just wanted to come back and say, I am no longer suicidal/ deeply depressed. I still struggle, but I made it through. For those who are still going through it, you CAN get better. I swear. I’m a 29 year ago guy from Hong Kong, and right now I’m on a bus alone in a foreign country,listening to this song, crying by myself. I have been wearing a wig for five years because of my balding and last night it was kinda broken. I didn’t bring a hat with me unfortunately. It’s been so long since I go out with my real hair showing to the public. At first, I was so frustrated and losing my mind because of this. I couldn’t even breathe when I looked at the hotel mirror. But then I told myself I couldn’t let it defeat me, there’s still a long way for me to go. The next day I still wore the broken wig but everybody would instantly notice I’m wearing one when they look at me. I felt vulnerable, insecure, and yet I also felt relieved. It was when I start letting the facade go away that I could finally feel like myself. And then I thought of this song, came here, listening to it, and it is the first time the lyrics hit so deep, every word, every line of this song goes straight into my heart. And I just wanna say thank you Jessie for putting this song out. It enlightened me 10 years ago, and it gives me strength and comfort I needed today.

There is so much that I love about this song, but here's an interesting fact that many of you may not know. This version was the FIRST version Jessie recorded in studio, and she liked it so much that she kept it, even though there is a mistake in the beginning where you can hear one of her producers talking in the background (0:06ish). It really is an amazing song which has saved so many lives.

No better names It's given a lot of people the courage to be themselves and know that it's okay. They might otherwise have gone the route that a lot of other people have when they felt completely different from everyone else and that that was a bad thing.

........... I can never really understand what this song doeas to me. As soon as I press play, I just focus on the melody, and Jessie's voice. There's nothing else. I look straight into her eyes, like she was right in front of me, speaking. ...it's like I can't control myself anymore.... I start to shiver. Last week i was in a mental hospital because im always sad and i felt like killing myself for multiple reasons so i went for treatment to get better. Im now out of cousre because im posting this comment. Anyways the doctor diagnosed me with depressive bipolar disorder. While i was in the hospital the girls in my unit would play this song. When i got out is when i found out about the disorder. I did my research on it and found out there is no cure... My doctor said in order to stay stable i will have to take medication for the rest of my life... The only thing i thought about was killing myself thinking i dont want to be like this for the rest of my life.. I went to church the night i found out about my disorder and everyone was talking about what they are greatful for and i couldnt think of anything but then i relized im greatful for my family and friends supporting me. Most of all im greatful for God blessing me and changing my point of veiw on the disorder. The girl that always played this song is also a close friend but i cant see her rn and dont know when i will be able to so i listen to this song when i miss her and when i feel down. This song is motivating throughout the lyrics speaks the truth in so many diffrent ways. I dont know why i felt the need to share this but i hope it helps or gives someone some kind of hope going through the same thing..

Robin Powell Depression is a bad thing. BUT things could have been worse, WAY WORSE. Having a supportive family and friends is a great thing. You have a purpose in life, killing yourself isn't a solution, it will get your loving family and friends in a bad situation. You are strong, don't let anyone tell you differently. There are people out there fighting both cancer and anxiety at the same time. There's always a reason to be happy. I would advise you to watch a lot of motivational speeches/videos on KZbin. Me..... I have cut myself multiple times, I'm 14 btw, people say I'm too young to be depressed, I've never talked about this with my parents because they are one of the causes of my depression. I believe there's no age to depression. There is no escape except suicide...I've had tried to commit suicide but too scared of death, because based on my religion if you commit suicide you go to hell forever...sometimes we just have to hold on just a little longer even though it's painful...
