The seventh day is Saturday as the same is Sabbath. Read Exodus 20:8-11...8 “Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. 9 Six days you shall labor and do all your work, 10 but the seventh day the Sabbath of the Lord your God. you shall do no work: you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your male servant, nor your female servant, nor your cattle, nor your stranger who within your gates. 11 For six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that in them, and rested the seventh day. Saturday the Sabbath day of God, Sunday brought in by Constantine who worshipped the sun. History tells us that pagan Rome who ruled the known world became Catholic Rome. They enforced Sunday worship. Hope this helps.

Hello Chew, yes in Hebrews 4 (You can read all chapter) but specifically these verses: "For if Jesus had given them rest, then would he not afterward have spoken of another day. There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God. For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his. Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief." - Hebrews 4:11 Also, Chew the 10 Commandments is given not to the Jew only, in fact it was given before any Jew was born, it was given to all as recorded in Exodus 20. Also, The new covenant is just a summary of the 10 commandments. First 4 = Love to God and Last 6 = Love to fellow men/women. Thus, the new covenant is just an summary of the old, which also includes the Sabbath which is the 4th of the 10. If Sabbath is excluded, then it will be the 9 commandments which is never written and if the old is gone it means all the 10 will be gone which is not practical since one of it as we can use an example is "thou shalt not kill" thus, making morality today screwed if we axed that. Hence, the 10 commandments in the past given to all, not only to the jew, will stay forever. It is written, "Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away." - matthew 24:35 Have a blessed day ahead :)

#2 THE SABBATH AS A MEMORIAL The Saturday Sabbath command was A MEMORIAL FOR THOSE DELIVERED FROM SLAVERY IN EGYPT. The Saturday Sabbath command was given soon after the Israelites were delivered by Moses. Read of the crossing of the Red Sea in Exodus 14. The point of Exodus 19:1 was just three months after they left Egypt, with Exodus 20 (when the Ten Commandments were given) coming soon thereafter. Exodus 20:1-17 is repeated in Deut. 5:6-21, where Moses expounds upon WHY it came and to WHOM the Sabbath command was given: "REMEMBER THAT YOU WERE SLAVES IN EGYPT AND THAT THE LORD YOUR GOD BROUGHT YOU OUT OF THERE WITH A MIGHTY HAND AND AN OUTSTRETCHED ARM. THEREFORE THE LORD YOUR GOD HAS COMMANDED YOU TO OBSERVE THE SABBATH DAY" (DEUT. 5:15). AS PASSOVER WAS AN ANNUAL MEMORIAL FESTIVAL FOR THE JEWS to celebrate in memory of God, who passed over the houses of the Israelites in Egypt while the firstborn of the Egyptians were struck dead (Ex. 12:14-30), THE SATURDAY SABBATH WAS ALSO FOR THE JEWS TO REMEMBER WEEKLY THEIR HISTORICAL DELIVERANCE FROM BITTER SLAVERY IN EGYPT, DEUT. 5:15. The Saturday Sabbath command, therefore, was not a "creation ordinance" as some say, according to Deut. 5:15.

Some "minor" points to consider: #1THE SABBATH WAS NOT REINSTATED IN THE NT ALL of the Ten Commandments were reinstated in the New Testament WITH ONLY ONE EXCEPTION, the one dealing with the Saturday Sabbath Day being kept holy. SOMETIMES Heb. 4:4 and 4:9,10 are thought to show the sabbath command was reinstated in the NT merely because the word "sabbath" is found. YET, : a) The passage mentions only a "SABBATH REST," but NOT the keeping of the Sabbath, as Israel was commanded in the Old Testament! b- Furthermore, this "Sabbath rest" CANNOT be equated with the keeping of the Saturday Sabbath, for even the Israelites who did keep it did not enter this "rest.” c- A Christian finds his spiritual rest in Christ as in Matthew 11:28. d- Only the 4th commandment, which is CEREMONIAL rather than MORAL, was NOT REINSTATED in the New Testament, which is the covenant we are under today as established IN CHRIST.

@ hanunija WOULD JESUS COMMAND TO BREAK THE LAW? If the Saturday Sabbath command as given to Israel is still in effect, then the Lord Jesus is guilty of commanding a person to sin by breaking it! In John 5:7-11 we read the story of the invalid that could not reach the stirring pool in order to be healed. NOTICE, the Lord Jesus commanded that invalid, ON A SABBATH DAY, to pick up his mat and walk with it to be healed. Therefore, this would constitute "work," according to the Old Testament Sabbath command. Since the Lord of the Sabbath would NEVER command a person to sin, we thereby know that Christians today are NOT under this same Sabbath command as given to Israel in Exodus 20:8-11. Again, what the Lord Jesus told the man to do WAS FORBIDDEN TO BE DONE ON A SATURDAY, as the Jews correctly noted: "The day on which this took place WAS A SABBATH, and so THE JEWS said to the man who had been healed, "IT IS THE SABBATH; THE LAW FORBIDS YOU TO CARRY YOUR MAT" (John 5:9,10). The exact Scripture where such action was forbidden is found in Jeremiah 17:21-24. The Jews were right that the law, AS GIVEN TO ISRAEL, to keep holy the Sabbath day forbid such things from being done. As such, the OT Sabbath command can no longer be valid for Christians. So when did this change you may ask? The answer is found in Luke 16:16: "THE LAW AND THE PROPHETS WERE PROCLAIMED UNTIL JOHN. SINCE THAT TIME, THE GOOD NEWS OF THE KINGDOM OF GOD IS BEING PREACHED, AND EVERYONE IS FORCING HIS WAY INTO IT." This is also the reason why we don't see this part of the 10 commandments reinstated in the New Testament. This point cannot be answered by the Sabbatarian peoples.

You forgot to mention that Jesus was in contact with the Father 24/7. You also forgot to mention that the apostle Paul wrote on several occasions that the sabbath is not compulsory in the new covenant (Romans 14, Colossians ch.2 etc). Certainly, the sunday is NOT the "new" resting day, to that I agree. That was one of the many heresies from the Roman Emperor Constantin (he established the Sun day as the new sabbath, in honor of his favorite god: Sol Invictus, in AD 321.) Of course, it is a good thing, the Sabbath day, as long as it is used according to the NEW covenant. But we have now, through the sacrifices made by Jesus, entered into the true sabbath, resting from our works, trusting in Him, believing in Him 24/7. Jesus is the END of the Law. When he was on the tree, dying, he shouted: It is FINISHED. The sabbath has to many people become a curse, just like in the days when Jesus walked this earth. So when he said that he is Lord even over the sabbath, it means that he did not care about all those regulations and limitations that the pharisees put on the people. Indeed, the sabbath was made for MAN, even for the labouring animals, so that they could have a resting day once a week. So it should be a blessing, not a curse, as it is made to be by many hypocrites. Thanks anyway for sharing the word of God, but do not forget to share also the words of Paul, as he was appointed as a teacher of the gospel.

Remember it is called "Jesus and the Sabbath", so it makes sense that the discussion would be about that very topic. When Jesus/Yeshua said "it is finished", he obviously wasn't meaning the Sabbath was finished (you probably don't think that), but that His purpose in His first coming was finished. You're right that the Sabbath shouldn't become a curse - as it's intended to truly be a blessing. I believe that Judaism has had over 1,000 rules concerning the Sabbath - yet Scripture contains about five. Big difference between man's ways and GOD's! Blessings.

THE JEWISH SABBATH WAS NOT OBLIGATORY FOR GENTILE CONVERTS The Gentile Christians were NOT informed to keep the Saturday Sabbath (or the rite of circumcision) when practices and commands were officially passed on to them from the original church council. In Acts 15, the first church council convened over a false teaching of that day: "UNLESS YOU ARE CIRCUMCISED, ACCORDING TO THE CUSTOM TAUGHT BY MOSES, YOU CANNOT BE SAVED," VERSE 1. Yet, when the Lord's apostles wrote their decision about circumcision for the Gentile Christians to read (Acts 15:23-29), THEIR SILENCE ABOUT THE OBSERVANCE OF THE JEWISH SABBATH IS SIGNIFICANT, especially when we consider that breaking the Saturday Sabbath command in the Old Testament carried with it very serious consequences, including the death sentence for offenders (Exo. 31:14-17 cf. Num. 15:32-36). Apostle Paul tells us the real purpose of the entire Ten Commandments (law) in Gal. 3:24 and Rom. 3:20 "So the law was put in charge to lead us to Christ that we might be justified by faith." "Therefore no one will be declared righteous in his sight by observing the law; rather, through the law we become conscious of sin."

Yes my brother Joe, since the Sabbath is instituted not for the Jews, it was given even before the Jews were there. The other sabbaths which were instituted by the Jews that's the sabbath that has been nailed to the cross. Rejecting the Sabbath is just like rejecting not to kill, not to obey parents, not to steal, for the same things are listen in the 10 commandments. Things that leads us to Christ by faith and not by works. :)

I keep my sabbath with my LORD, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Subday. That's better than your saturday. @@ChristSeed777 I live in a community heavy with cults and criminals and sorcery and I recently got a flight out on a Saturday and returned late Sunday because I was under attack by some demonic people in the airport that gave me flu symptoms but now that I have returned I am facing the same horrible people and maybe I should have stayed gone because such people will think of ANY excuse to attack and now they are threatening to capture me and rape me like a man and blame it on me when they have always been mean and harmful like that. I live in Lubbock Texas and all of West Texas is mean like that and they hate unwed mothers and jews and gays and blacks and poor people and Indians and people like me who have been Baptized in the water as an adult. But I do not believe we are in that part of the end times yet where no one should travel in the winter or on the Sabbath and I do not believe I should suffer further and it should not be for the evil ones to decide.
