As an old man, learned that no matter what happens, how cruel it seems and unfathomable by humans, Christ asks you hang in there and trust Him. In our minds, we want to ascertain God's meaning, and perhaps we can to a point, but then our inability stops us. And then Faith has to help us thru. Can't thank The Chosen enough for what it's done for humanity-especially now. Bless all of ya'll.

Yesssss!!! OMG! I’ve been thinking that too. Like I find myself getting so worried for the apostles and Jesus, especially when the leaders tried to stone them. But then I’m like “Wait a minute…I know this story. I know this story like the back of my hand…I know these guys are going to be fine!” I think it speaks volumes to the crew and cast when you forget for a minute that you know what’s coming. And I think it’s an indication as to what we’ll be like when the Passion and Resurrection come.

I noticed on The Chosen S4E6 tonight that Judas is wanting to "help" Jesus so badly, so much that he seems out of sync with the rest of the group, spends time alone instead of with the others, doesn't understand them when they try to explain stuff to him and so seems to feel like an outsider. He is worrying about helping God out. I did that for a long time too. Until just recently, I realized, God doesn't need my help. He knows exactly what He's doing and knows exactly how to accomplish it. He doesn't need Judas to help him get more money, because God owns everything (the cattle on a thousand hills are mine, says the Lord) and is in control of everything. What God needs from us is something totally different than what most people think, and I finally got it.

@surrenderdaily333 Yes... and does it not seem plausible that Judas is worried and gets more worried the more times that Jesus carries on where he is always battling with the Jewish Leadership. I am sure that Judas is getting to the point that he wishes Jesus would quite contending with the Jewish Leadership. He seems to always be right in the middle of it. Judas is fearing for life of Jesus. Now imagine that the Leadership says to Judas... Can you get us a private meeting with Jesus... we need to speak with him. We need to let him know that if he keeps up what he is doing... there are those that will kill him. And then Judas decides to arrange that meeting but then is betrayed and finds out they are the ones that want Jesus. So then the money they gave means nothing because he has been betrayed. And then finding out they have him to kill him... he commits suicide.

Remember when Peter and James and John were in the room together privately discussing why Jesus didn’t raise Ramah and one of them said, “Maybe He was unable to bring her back from the dead…” So there was STILL doubt in their hearts. Jesus needed to make sure they understood that Lazarus was REALLY dead by letting 4 days pass so when Jesus raised him, their doubt was removed. This wasn’t about Jesus raising Lazarus because they were good friends. It was about removing the doubt within the disciples hearts. Jesus didn’t just flit from town to town performing miracles like a circus act. There was a particular reason Jesus was trying to establish with every miracle that He performed.

I agree that it is important to get the timeline right because many people who refuse to read the Bible will watch the Chosen for entertainment reasons and will misunderstand what happened. Also, people who do read the Bible will become confused when the Chosen contradicts what the Bible says. Other than that, I think the Chosen is very well done and I can see where they strive to be authentic. Other discrepancies come down to interpretive issues. Some creative license is taken for the sake of dramatic effect. This happens in every on-screen portrayal of a book, any book.

A piece people miss regarding where the Pharisees got the stones is where, as the camera follows Jesus and the disciples on the porch of Solomon, it pans across a group of construction workers that are engaged in their work, and the cart containing the stones is visible, so the viewer can see where the stones will come from. That were stolen from the construction site…

@@ENDTIME_GENERATION Correct. While Jesus was praying to his God and Father he asked his God this at John 17:20-22 “My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, 21 that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me. 22 I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one” So then, we see that being “one” either means that Jesus and his God Jehovah are two separate beings who are united in purpose… or all his followers are God with him and his God. I think the state of being “one” is made pretty clear here.

I don't think so. The Christ was very clear about Judas character and motives. The poor betrayer is in hell as he despaired and killed himself. The Lord said it would have been better that he had not been born. So let's not assign any good he may have had in mind by his betrayal. The devil entered him, just as scripture said. I can't read any good intentions into that. Son of perdition. Who said that?

Two fun facts: 1 is that the two pharisees in the beginning who go and get everyone else, unless I'm wrong about this, are the two Pharisees who Atticus talked to in season 3, who were threatening to bring him before Caiaphias until he tried to defile the sacred ground by spitting on it. So pretty much, we know all 5 of the religious leaders who initiate the stoning which is interesting. 2, and this was what confused me when i saw episode 7, but you can see that when Peter and Simon Z are holding back the Pharisees and Saducee's, Little James of all people is helping to hold them back as well. Gedarah is a lot shorter than the rest of them, just like little James so he's pushing gedarah back at 27:54

I think that Thomas is being critical of Jesus in this moment and his depression is getting the better of him. He wants the suffering to end as he states with Peter. He's hoping that'll happen with Jesus, or he just doesn't care if it does. Thus, at least imo, he's saying "Let us go, because Jesus will die and we will therefore die too." This is Thomas hoping that his suffering will be finished.

When Jesus and the disciples enter Solomon's porch, you can see some workers working with stones there. That's where they take the stones to throw at Jesus.

No. The stoning was done with stones from the ground not from stones to build or repair the temple of God 😮the mob would take the person out and pick up rocks on the way to the place of execution 😮i mean illegal lynching 😢

I always thought of John 11:16 as Thomas being hopeless. Like he had given up.

One thing lacking in the ESV is appropriate capitalization of words referring to God. If you switch to other versions, you’ll see that in John 11:16, in Thomas’s statement, the “Him” to whom he refers is Jesus. Thomas assumes that when they go to Bethany, they will probably be persecuted and killed for being followers of Jesus. The commentaries I consulted state the same. Mystery solved! Thank you for your wonderful work and dedication as The Chosen Sleuth! Looking forward to seeing you at CHOSENCON this year! God bless you and Vanessa in all you do to spread the Gospel of Christ❣️✝️🙏🏼♥️

The council of Nicene changed up all the dates. Christmas is basically a pagan winter solstice holiday. These dates mean nothing to me anymore. And I doubt God would want us to.

Chosen Sleuth, I totally interpreted Thomas' "...so that we may die with him" the way you did, and the first time I heard it. I agree with you on that interpretation.

At this time, there was also a stone quarry north west of the known area of the ancient walls outside of Jerusalem called Arimethia. This area has been called may be where Yussif"s family's stone quarry was! I research this stuff & I read this somewhere, after there was first speculation that Yussif could be THE Joseph of Arimathia!

I love easily it was for Jesus to 'slip through the crowd' using these leaders' own distractions against them. He trapped them in their words way better than they could have hoped to trap Him in His. Their way was dastardly and wicked, but His was completely innocent because He is who He said He is and His Word cannot be used against Him. He is The Word. HALLELUJAH

I love it that you are a time line geek! Me too! I even watch where they show full moons and try to align that with the Biblical calendar along with other date cues. I also look at how long it would take them to get from pt A to pt B and see if that is reasonable with the actual distance that would be covered in a journey. Okay, maybe I am also a geek! LOL. Keep it up. Love what you do.

I also think that Jesus was also referring back to Ezekiel 34, when He claimed to be the Good Shepherd. In Ezekiel, God was speaking to the shepherds of Ezekiel’s day, declaring to them that He would one day come and PERSONALLY shepherd His flock (Israel). Thus, Jesus was claiming to be God.

In scripture, Thomas was most certainly speaking of dying with Jesus(verse16). In the Bible, the words “die with Him”- him is capitalized.
