There are two kinds of artists in this world. The ones that become famous for no apparent logical reason most of which are then flipped over like a page in a boring book, and then you get artistic geniuses like Brand New whose musical legacy will get re-discovered again and again decades later by those with a raging war of morals on the inside. Finding even more questions to their questions. I have an autistic son and one should see the reaction my child has to some of their music, he just stands still and gets this stunned and relieved expression on his face that no therapist or treatment has ever done for him. It is truly a religious experience for him and it is perhaps one of the few moments where I can truly feel that we connect and for that alone they have my most loyal devotion and respect... God bless those boys and their families !

I like the ending of this video. I think it is ironic how during the whole song the actor is talking to Jesus and how he does not believe he is good enough to reach heaven. In the end, he is the one who saves himself. He is the one flying circles around the church with his hand made wings. Powerful stuff.

My best friend introduced me to this band he was obsessed with them. This was his ringtone on his phone. He died in my arms 3 months ago from a heroin overdose 3 days before we were supposed to move out west. This song brings a tear to my eye every time I here it. Funny how since he past it always seems to come on the radio while im driving. I lost the only true friend I've ever had. He told me three days before he died that he wished he were dead he just gave up. Heroin addiction is hell.

I am saddened that my son's school will not allow him to play this song on stage. Why not? It is powerful and moving. My 14 year old has been practicing on acoustic and sings it very well. Being told that he says Jesus Christ too many times in the wrong manner, tells me that they did not listen to the words. I know the feeling, I lost my dad to the same issue 6 years back and the family has never been the same since. A lot of us aren't religious. I ain't, but this song makes you wonder and wish they're alright afterwards. Again, sorry to hear. The best thing is to try and not to understand but realize you couldn't help because he felt like he'd made up his mind. It only gnaws on your mind forever, I have nights where it happens but they still love you even though they're gone.

My interpretation of the video is that the guy wants to get to heaven (having dreams and obviously wanting to fly), but his sins and burdens (all the objects piled on his back when he was walking and his feet turning to spiders) weighs him down and makes him believe he isn't good enough to reach it.

This song has been very important to me this week. On Saturday night my friend overdosed on Paracetamol in an attempt to take his own life. In an facebook post just before the attempt he blamed his father for leaving him and the fact he felt abandoned by God. I always connected to this song for my regular, everyday teenage problems. I keep seeing all these comments about people who've listened to the song committing suicide. This song never made anyone commit suicide. The lyrics are just extremely relatable for people who feel lonely and depressed. When I first heard this song, I could've sworn that Jesse was inside my head and reading my thoughts. Apparently, a lot of people can relate to it. Nobody ever died because of this song. It's just a beautiful synopsis of the way that so many of us feel.
