Thank you so very much for posting this. Decades ago I sang in a choir where the director had the singers dress as Moravians, sit in rows on wooden benches, and sway as we sung this beautifully haunting hymn as though we were on an old wooden ship. This hymn immediately became one of my personal favorites. While the Welsh might sing this with gusto, for me, the slower version (as you've played it) seems to reach much deeper. I love it. Thank you again.

Very well done! This hymn and tune has such a reverent depth to it.

I love the old timey sound at the end of some notes of the recording that gives this a vintage, lo-fi vibe.

You have to tell me more! Can you link to the SA anthem? I would love to see or hear it used this way.

This narrative is hotly contested and there's no real evidence to support that Joseph Parry wrote the tune and Enoch Sontonga merely wrote the lyrics of 'Nkosi sikelea iAfrika'! #DoMoreResearch

Even as a National Anthem, it is Zambia 1st, then Zimbabwe that used this as their National anthems. Zimbabwe later changed to a different tune. Zambia has a soldiered on with their version of God Bless Afrika.

I am so sad. There was another KZbin video by Perfect Piano HD with this hymn tune, ABERYSTWYTH, for the hymn song, God of Earth and Outer Space, which was played faster and on electronic keyboard with some other extras and now it's gone! I found it on January 26, 2019 and listened and sang along with it several times since and now it's gone! I don't suppose you can possibly play this tune again but with deeper noted keys, and a touch faster in tempo, could you, Mr. Remillard? I loved that version, it sounds like a cosmic space adventure. Very manly and daring.

Beautifully played, although the Welsh would sing this, as in most hymns, with fervent gusto and emotionalism. I am part Welsh in my ancestry.

Beautiful! Could you share the score? I can't find the E minor version, just the D minor which is too low for my voice...

Deste espanto e do terror Vem salvar-me, ó bom Senhor, E no porto faze entrar Minha barca sem quebrar! [2] Consternado nesta dor, Sem refúgio, sem vigor, Meu medroso coração Clama a ti por salvação. Mostra o teu imenso amor, Ó benigno Salvador! Poderosa e clara luz, Não me deixes, ó Jesus! [3] Compassivo Redentor, Vale a um triste pecador! Vida e gozo tu me dás, Graça infinda, eterna paz. Enche o débil coração Com os dons da salvação, E, seguro, e sem temor; Gozarei do teu favor.

Yeah, I was playing with my band in a church service for the deceased members of the band. We played this, and I thought it seemed very familiar. I knew I had heard something like it somewhere.
