Jesus' Triumphal Entry Into Jerusalem (Matthew 21:1-22)
As Jesus enters Jerusalem, He is acknowledged to be the King and the Messiah by the people, a fulfillment of the prophecy in Zechariah 9:9. The next morning he cleanses the temple again, heals the blind and the lame, who then enter, is acknowledged as the Messiah by the children there, and the religious leaders are indignant. Next, we see Jesus curse a fig tree, which symbolizes judgment on Israel.

You have to love Pastor Curtis's humor on no Jesus didn't check his Twitter, Facebook or KZbin account for likes, dislikes, or views and comments, lol. He was into obedience and serving the Father, not marketing a brand or new religion for them again to traditionalize as for another historical heritage. And Amen, I do believe Jesus had many emotions not just the deep-voiced narrator of religious monotones. I think he had a lot of fun and humor-filled affectionate human moments with his Yeshiva dropout personalities like me who are slow to hear, think, reflect and get it til the light goes on.

Hi Pastor Curtis. I am wondering if you can point me to the scriptures for a couple of things you mentioned in this podcast? I want to look them up. :) 1st - you mentioned there were two cleansings of the temple one at the beginning of Jesus's Ministry and then one at the end. Can you please provide the scripture reference for the first one? 2nd - you mention Jesus sweating drops of blood. I see a reference to him sweating sweat, that was like drops of blood, but not actual blood. Can I have your reference please? Thank you soo much!! Good message!

Hi Liz, both are excellent questions, so sorry I'm just now responding. First, to the two cleansings of the temple. There is a similar moment that is recorded in John 2:14-16 which takes place toward the beginning of Jesus' ministry. When you compare the two events, there are key differences in them that indicate they are not the same event. To your second question regarding if the drops were actually blood: In Luke 22:44, he writes that Jesus' "sweat became like drops of blood, falling to the ground." Some suggest that Luke was using simile here, however, there is an actual medical condition called Hematidrosis. "Hematidrosis is a rare, but very real, medical condition that causes one’s sweat to contain blood. The sweat glands are surrounded by tiny blood vessels that can constrict and then dilate to the point of rupture, causing blood to effuse into the sweat glands. The cause of hematidrosis is extreme anguish." In the garden, Jesus was in agony. Matthew 26:38 says, "37 And He took Peter and the two sons of Zebedee with Him, and began to be grieved and distressed. 38 Then He said to them, “My soul is deeply grieved, to the point of death; remain here and keep watch with Me.” So, it seems reasonable to read it as actual blood mixed with his sweat. Hope this helpful! And so glad you're following along with the Daily word and engaging with it. God bless :)

I do like how you took it back to Kyle teaching at the beginning of Matthew now weeks back, that if they didn't believe his works, they should have believed the Scriptures (Torah, Talmud, Septuigiant) they claimed to have treasured and kept, that Jesus was showing them since they prided themselves on heritage, tradition and God's word. I have to side-track the thought do you think the donkey was a symbol of their ability to discern? Much like Balaam had a donkey talk to him so he could "get it"?

I do believe there were some Jews there that was sincerely ready to receive Him as Savior, and Messiah shouting Hosanna and blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord. Many of these perhaps were an integral part of disciples who contributed to the beginnings of the Way, later known as the church. However, although I or my grandfather were not there that day as eyewitnesses, I also suspect that perhaps the religious leaders of that day, paid off an uprising of a different group to plant and support their agenda and ideology as it was customary to do (paid mourners)

This could have been it, right there and then - yet for the leaders, Jesus was bad for business and they wanted to continue to oppress and impose their authority over the people and continue their lavish lifestyles by overcharging and overtaxing the people they stated they cared for shepherded and led. Is it any wonder in the later centuries "indulgences" of the dark ages? Jesus correctly pointed out the Temple where people gather to worship God (the true definition of a Jew, a worshipper from the heart) that was to be a place of prayer where we sought the Father. Not like today's prosperity preachers (also a den of thieves) for $9.95 you can keep this ministry on the air ... if god doesn't sustain it, it shouldn't be in the 1st place or continue
