Hey guys this week I am doing my first unboxing video! I finally saved up enough money to upgrade to a better lathe! So this weeks video I will be unboxing this new lathe and going over all of the features in hopes to help you all find the right lathe for you!

I did a lot of research while I was looking for a new lathe and I decided this is the best lathe for me, and its under $1000! I go over all the things that come in the box and all of the features! Like I said before I highly recommend this wood lathe! It is a good brand, and it has a lot of great features that I found to be really handy! The purpose of this video is to show you the reason I bought it and to try and help you if your in the market for a new wood lathe! I hope this video helps you make a decision!

Omg you're strong! I bought this same lathe while it was on sale over a month ago, had it delivered and barely managed to drag it into the house (and I do mean drag it... and it wasn't pretty). Am now waiting for some strong nephews to come help me lug it out to the garage. I can barely budge that thing! This was a really super helpful walk through, thank you so much for taking the time to do this. :)

Its Definently not a light lathe, but thats a good thing it helps keep it from wobbling. I'm glad you enjoyed the video and I hope it helps you! Ive had this lathe for several months now and I'm really happy with how it works so I am sure you will love it!

I've had a JET 1221 for about 8 years. The little sucker is a workhorse! I hope your experience has been as good as mine!

I've only had 2 problems with mine, the shut off switch quit working and I had to replace it, and the set screw on the bottom pully comes loose from time to time. Otherwise its been great!

Thank you! I figured you would like the metric measurments on it lol. To be honest the lathe has become my favorite tool in the shop, you can make an entire project finish and all on one machine. If you ever get the opportunity to use one I would bet you would enjoy it.

Literally, I’m was just heading out to pick up my new Jet 1221VS when I thought I would search on what is involved to set this up when I landed on your video. If this is your first unboxing video, quit your day job and go into video production! Very nice job. It reinforced my decision to purchase this one. Thank you. I will check out more of your videos after I get this one home and set up. BTW, did you consider purchasing the stand for it or will you use it on your bench top?

@@BuildStuffwithAJ just bought it two weeks ago, first of March 2019. Haven't turned anything so to speak of yet, I need to bolt it down to my station

@@philquinn73 this video is a little behiend, ive had my lathe for a couple months now and ill be honest, I have yet to mount it to my table and it doesnt wobble too much unless you get a really big or uneven piece on it. Now I am in no way suggesting you not bolt it down, I am just letting you know my experience with it. But it turned really good compaired to my old lathe.

Yes I did, I suppose you could lift it from under the bed of the lathe if you'd prefer. I really like this lathe and I am sure you will too!

Thank you! I've used it quite a bit and honestly its only had a couple problems. The power switch burnt out so I replaced it and the set screw on the lower speed adjustment works itself loose from time to time

Yes I suggest getting a chuck for it and a 60 degree cone for the tail stock. They both come in handy. I've got a video showing the chuck that I bought! But these are not required to use it, just extra that help

Their about the top of the range in mini laths but here in Aus they wont $1800 for them too expensive for a mini lathe

Wow that's almost double what I paid for mine. That's crazy! Honestly I wish I had saved a little longer and got a full size lathe, but this one does a great job! I'm honestly not sure why its so much in AUS, but best of luck to you finding a great lathe in your price range!

i just bought this lathe and it will not turn 21 inches between centers,,,reguardless of what they say,,,im trying to turn a 19 3/4 inch piece and it will not fit,,,at the most,,,you might get 17 to 18 inches,,,,false advertisement on jets part

I'll be honest I've not tried to turn anything that long before. I've done alot of Christmas ornaments and bowls. But no really long spindles yet. That's good to know for the future! They do sell a bed extension that would add an extra 20 inches if your bought it specifically for that purpose Hers is a link amzn.to/2LVJfYF
