I bought a gallon of alumabright from O'Reilly and it worked amazing to clean oxidation on my boat before I painted with self etching primer.

Hello sir... I have never seen any of your vids but i skimmed through part 1 and was doing the same with part 2... and so on just to see if you knew what you were doing, making sense etc... happened to stop at the point where you explained the holes you drill at the end of metal cuts.... The simple fact you know that made me stop and type this. Those holes are one of the engineering reasons the titannic got worse and worse...as it filed up with water the stresses kept flexing the metal in different ways and those cracks you mentioned started happening violently actually. Those little holes you mentioned proved to me you arent a dummy. :)) Good luck in the future and i will go back and watch the whole series on this project properly. Cuzz im wanting to do the same with a 12 foot john boat i have.

Have you looked at the hydraulic media blast option for the cleaning chore ? Using your pressure washer

I was going to recommend the power washer sand blaster attachment for smaller jobs like this. and most of us have a power washer already. the attachment is not expensive to get for it.
@benjamincooper85314 ай бұрын
You should get a pressure washer sand blasting kit. Could be a real time saver for stripping that hull.

Hey man. I built a setup like yours. Different brand, different setup. That aluminum boat heres what I did. Go to a truckstop, buy a gallon of that stuff truckdrivers put on thier fuel tanks. Some sort of exotic acid. You have to wear gloves. When you apply it you will get the hang of it. That boat will look like a brand new polished one. It removes everything to a mirror finish.

To clean that heavy oxide layer off get some toon-brite or aluminum cleaner for cleaning heavily oxidized semi fuel tanks and stuff. Used it on my 14 foot boat and the results were insane

If you notice the ski doesnt build much speed but is spinning up, check the gap around your Prop and the housing. Its called "cavitation" when you ingest air vs majority water, also when you have a gap around the prop due to wear on fins and its not getting a solid seal around the prop blade.

Pretty cool. But I worry that the boat has too much buoyancy in the rear for the nozzle to be under water. You may need to weigh down the stern. Just a thought. Good luck.👍

Why did you cut so much away from the jet surround? I image there’s a reason jet skis and jet boats keep the jet surrounded. Maybe for a surface for the water to hit when trying to reverse or steer, idk but I assume there’s a good reason. I would’ve just left it the way it is and blend it into your transom above the surround.

A lot of guys cut it completely off and leave the whole jet pump hanging out the back of the boat. I just decided to go half way. May or may not need to build a skid plate, will find out after the test run. It does not have reverse

Hey Catman! Big Fan. Maybe a dumb question. Did you test the jet ski motor to make sure itll run once your done?
@catmanDIYoutdoors4 ай бұрын
Yep, fired on the first crank.

That was my hope! My luck would be go thru all that work and not be able to get it to run. Looking forward to the finished boat!

10 percent prep, and blow off the finish. Kind of a disappointment from the plan in part 1 The procedure is do the interior and exterior before installing the pump.
