Brockwell Park Fireworks display 2011 - (highlights)

Huge crowds descended on Brockwell Park, in Brixton, South London to watch a massive 30 minute firework display. Don't know if it was just me, but I couldn't help thinking that I'm literally watching tens, if not hundreds of thousands of pounds going up in flame in front to my very eyes. Not good in these austere times!

Yep, crazy. Alexandra Palace fireworks display was cancelled this year and last year as they had no funding. Would you believe it cost them £143,000 for the last display in 2009 !!! and the local council used to contribute to this. You could've live linked this to north london on a giant screen and that would've been just fine at a fraction of the cost. Brockwell park did smash it though - such sophisticated fireworks! who paid for that?

@martianspeed I like it.... Fireworks via giant plasma screens linked across London. in future we could all just stay at home and watch on our laptops, faked giant firework footsteps bursting in the sky (ala Beijing Olympics). Somehow I don't think it would save a whole load of money though. Those fake firework animators are not cheap you know.
