Interesting to note operational practice between the different airlines. British carriers (BA & Virgin) will touch down earliet and afterburn harder enabling them to turn straight onto the apron thus avoiding the long travel up to/180 turn at the end of the runway like American jets, Wonder if they do this to save fuel and/or time?

Yeah, but majority of the time the flights are early so if they backtrack time is not really lost!
