I was there! I was stationed at nearby Giebelstadt AAF with the Air Force weather detachment there.

Martin Lancelot Barre is/was the heart and soul of Jethro Tull, his contributions to the sound is just as important as anything Ian is bringing.

Yes. I just saw Martin live the other nite. And as much as Ian is/was the consummate showman There’s no doubt after the show I saw. Martin was the heartbeat of the band. He f’n rocks harder than they did in 88.

the last really great Tull tour - Ian could still hit his notes - and had written some great songs in his new vocal range - saw this one at the Universal Amphitheater, LA.

+Doug Harr I thought he sounded pretty good on the Roots To Branches tour too :)

+Doug Harr Nah my mistake, just checked some videos from the Roots to branches tour. He can't reach the high notes. The RTB album is one of my favorites though.

Seen every Tull or Ian tour since 72 until TAAB2 in 2012, and in fact what turned out to be the very last American Tull show, Rosemont Theater 2011. I would counter that the voice issues were in fact at their worst between 1987 and 1994. Absolutely frighteningly bad at points on this tour which I believe I saw 4 times. Sort of like Popeye. Somewhere around Roots in 95 he learned to sing within its permanent limitations and returns were often at least passable, (though not always) until about 2008. Since then things have got quite dicey at times though his recent compositions maintain their high quality. One thing for damn sure, glad he's still around....though not surprised.

I tend to disagree, I think the 'Catfish Rising' album and tour was great as well. The 1987-92 era was excellent.

Yes. I agree. I have had great fun watching Tull over the years but the Rock Island tour was the last time he could handle the singing properly. I saw them in Manchester UK on the RI tour, front middle.. and it was awesome! Just an amazing show...brilliant. What a band they had! The Catfish Rising tour was good as well and the singing was still clinging on...I liked the restaurant thing they did on stage from that one too. Great band. Ian Anderson is a legend :)

Tull gone forever as a band, now it's just Anderson and Barre hired musicians to play Tull's songs.
