Curious indeed what he said about P.P. Arnold not sounding “like a woman.” It’s also curious that his comment was so brief. I was hoping he would have elaborated.

Pretty stupid comment about PP Arnold. She's 10 times the singer he is.

@youcandoit correct on all points ... a pied piper for a time ... made a lot of dough with the emergence of stad rock and brill handling by Chrysalis ... does any of it stand up 50 years on ...? like wine and women, all a matter of opinion ... we can mathamusically all mess around with compound irregular time signatures ... ultimately ... where's the tune ... all fur coat and no knickers thanks for your reply

Incidentally Igginbottoms Wrench are a massively rare and collectable band! Ian Anderson should’ve nicked the single/LP that was being played and ran off with it!!!!

Ian sounds parochial, trying to defend who he identifies as his peers, like the Family and the Pentangle - on the contrary of what he said, PP Arnold has a great voice and he's comments on the reggae tune sound idiotic. I like a lot of the Tull music but do not think I would share a pint with this guy :)

He was 21 or 22 at the time and probably trying to identify himself with music he thought was important. He has always thought his own music was important, that’s for sure.

I've noticed that too, looking at the US charts at the end of these reviews. In this one Nilsson and Sly Stone apart, it looks likes the US had barely progressed since 1962 and the 1970s was even worse in the US chartwise.

Ya know, I’ve noticed, after viewing many of these posts, that the majority of these Brit rockers don’t care much for soul music. Interestingly, most of them were strongly influenced by rhythm and blues, traditional blues, rock- n-roll and jazz. It’s… bizarre, and contradictory, and mildly troubling.
@stegokitty2 жыл бұрын
One of the best of this series IMHO -- lots of laughs, and it was interesting that I liked and disliked the exact same ones as Ian. Anyway, glad to have listened to this one as I've been turned on to a couple of items that I'll research a bit more: Pentangle and The Family. Interesting stuff for sure.
