A remarkable vocal performance attempting to replicate the original vocal textures. It is a real effort/battle for Ian considering vocal chord injuries and surgeries and sadly, smoking in earlier days. The "drama" you refer to, in other words, is a courageous effort to push for as a clear a sound as he could produce at this point in his brilliant career. He is to be lauded for this presentation IMO.
