This is great! Please make more of this series. Josh and Stephanie are naturals in front of the camera! It would be great if you guys could delve deeper into stationery culture and talk about not only products, but also make it personal and really share your passion and knowledge of stationery. You guys started to do that in this first episode, so I'm really looking forward to seeing more!

I’m doing it now - I had to learn how to write with my left hand after getting RSI in my right. Now I’m learning to hold my pen like a brush in either hand after 40 years of gripping. It’s hard, but I need to do it if I want to keep drawing!

Ngl, It's those collaborations the Japanese stationary companies do with popular anime that actually got me back into buying Japanese stationary. I know. It's such a simple trick. But I just cannot resist when they slap my favorite character on a uni style fit. I have to get it. And then I went down the rabbit hole after discovering that you could customize & refill those things and use them till the end of the world That's genius

I’m a few decades older than both of you guys and I have a grip like Stephanie’s. I can write with a tripod grip but it doesn’t feel natural. And I change my S letters between cursive and block all the time, sometimes within the same word! I’ve always loved stationery and it’s great to see the younger generation keeping the art of writing alive and well in this technological age.

I have a similar grip to Stephanie. A quad but the pen rests on my ring finger and the index and middle hold it down. I get hand cramps all the time and have a callus above my nail on my ring finger. Not the most ergonomic. Fascinating to hear how other people hold pens. Also this vid was so fun! We need more!

I was homeschooled, and I was DEFINITELY taught to use a certain grip when I write. (The lateral tripod grip, FWIW, which I still use. I get hand cramps and/or calluses sometimes, but I can write insanely fast when I’m writing in cursive-which was another homeschool staple, lol.) I’m sure my sister was taught that way too, but she rebelled and just grips in her own way now. 😅 My favorite Pokemon starters are Bulbasaur and Totodile! I tend to favor grass or water starters-with the exception of Tepig, because he’s just stupidly cute. 😆

I think your grip need depends on how you are using the pen... if you are a printer I think the non received grips work fine... if you are writing stroke by stroke, any grip will do... but if you are just trying to produce regular cursive the tripod grip allows for gliding. Thanks for these info videos!

I learned the dynamic tripod grip in school and somewhere in my adulthood life, my grip changed to a dynamic quadrupod. I can still write in both styles but my hand cramps more with the quadrupod so I'm working my way back to a tripod grip. My niece is 5 and she's holding her pencil from a full grasp to a "high index" index and we noticed she's tired from writing this way, so we're trying to help her learn the tripod grip.

This series has so much potential!! How about doing writing samples side by side, or screen by screen in this case, and compare the same ink in different fountain pens. Or give each of you $50 and see what assortment of supplies you would compile for the other person. You are each such fun personalities, and together you are a blast!!! 💛💛💛

I went to occupational and physio therapy when I was little for grip, low upper body muscle tone and fine motor control issues and it was extremely helpful. My handwriting will never be neat but at least I can write! I have a friend from college who had the exact same issue as me when she was a kid and it turns out that neither of us crawled as babies. We’d scoot around on our bums. So wondering if it’s just a coincidence or if there’s something there… but despite all our writing struggles, we both ended up being artists.

Stationary talk is cool :) I also like the idea of Stationary Showcase cause it's more of a highlight of the stationary products. I can always take a look at more stationary products :D perhaps notebooks would be a good tip or like a bundle setting. Like what is your favorite office stationary to keep your work flow fun and productive. I'm a huge fan of folio cases that I can store things like my notebook and pens. I keep a few different pens on me as well as my ink and things like that :D I'm a huge fan of those things and bags, especially sling bags, are my weakness since I'm a minimalist on the go all the time.

I love this! I may or may not have joined in when y’all sang the pokemon theme song. It can’t be proven 😂 I was taught to do a tripod grip when I was a kid in the USA but it hurt my finger so much I learned to do it only when my teacher was looking. Cut to 25 years later and I find out I have hyper mobile joints and it was literally bending my finger joints backwards. I love my lateral quad grip! It’s a bit different from yours but it keeps the pressure off of my joints and I’ve never wanted to try to change it

I've literally just decided to change my grip to tripod this semester in uni, and after a few days of suffering I was just fine My handwriting from the first five days is the worst, but now after 3 months it's basically normal, my hand cramps got A LOT BETTER SERIOUSLY i had weird grip and it was also really low, my hand used to hurt after one page, now I barely put any pressure on the writing instrument, so at 22, I would say the change was pretty smooth

When I was a kid, which is many moons ago, we were taught grips in school in first grade. However, being a product of head start, I had already developed my grip there. They tried to force me to change it in first grade, it just could not happen. Plus I got upset every time they tried to change it. Just so you know I have the same grip as Stephanie. I have never broke a pencil though. I do shoot lead from my mechanical pencils, a former co-worker always got upset saying I waste lead by breaking it. As for Pokémon, I play only Nintendo switch games. I love Evee.

I'm pretty sure that when I was in primary school, we were taught how to hold our pencils and pens (which were provided by the school board). We were taught printing first with pencils, and then in grade 3 we switched to pens and were taught how to write (cursive). From then on we were expected to do all of our work in what you call cursive in ink (except for math). Our pens were shaped more like a speedball pen, but were ballpoints, and had grooves in the narrowing (grip section). In high school, we started to have to bring our own pens, so my little rebelliousness resulted in me doing my work in green ink. This was all prior to modern computers. When my son started school, he only got a very brief introduction to printing, and they didn't teach writing at all! The result is disappointing. *sigh*

Thank you for talking about grip! In my workshops, I found that most adults stopped being creative with their pens and pencils because of grip. When they try to imitate the grip shown in manuals or tutorials, they can't get it right or they find it painful. What I usually say is just think about how you wipe your @ss. Turns out few of us were ever shown a right or wrong way of doing it, yet we all (hopefully) manage to get the job done. Same goes for your pen grip: do what's comfortable for you and gets the results you desire. 😁✍️🍑
