Mike, your reasoning is sound. I too was floored by the firing. To me, it seems something big went down behind closed doors. We just have to wait and see if coming decisions and possible player moves can give us hints to what that was. Could it be Salah had no interest in getting Adams, while Rogers wanted him? Let's see if they get him first. Or, perhaps it was the other way around and Rogers asked Saleh to get him, but ownership was "no." It will be interesting to learn the truth about what caused Saleh to get fired.

@@SolidMikePthat may be true in the sense of no one likes to be fired but this was going to end this way eventually. Rodgers is a shell of his former self, its obvious. Hes better than the previous QBs but not nearly good enough to overcome the OL issues. Theres definitely a part of Saleh thats got to be relieved, maybe thats the right word…..relieved that he can move on and get back to doing what he was successful at. No more Woody, no more A.Rodgers, no more trying to game plan around an O line thats still bad.

The problem was the offense. Saleh was a defensive coach and Rodgers had his own guy Hacket who was running it. Now Rodgers will have no one else to blame for his poor play. They put too much faith and power into a washed up QB.

Yeah, the guy has been in he NFL 20 seasons and Robert Saleh was his third head coach. The first one lasted 13 seasons in Green Bay before being fired, and has proven in Dallas he isn't that good a head coach. The second coach is still in Green Bay and doing well. Yeah, what a coach killer. I'm not taking Aaron Rodgers' side, because I think he's washed and as arrogant and weird as ever. But Saleh has been in New York since 2021, long before Rodgers finally took the field (for more than three plays) in 2024. The Jets have been spinning their wheels the whole time ando the buck stops with him. Just because you're a good defensive coordinator doesn't necessarily mean you're ready or able to lead an entire team.

The media was literally saying how the Jets were about to go way off the rails. I think Saleh is a good DC but as a HC you are responsible for everything not just defense. The most important job is being the puppet master, culture setter, etc and Saleh never could do that. And the Vikings win gets even sweeter. And no, not because I wished Saleh would be fired. But because in one inexplicable week, beyond win number: 5, the Vikes now have the DC replacement for when Flores accepts his HQ position in the offseason. Flores is the man but the impending nightmare facing the Vikes this offseason just turned the corner that they needed. The irony seems rosy. 🤞🏼💜

Interesting this happen shortly after Saleh and Rodgers had a dust up. Saleh will be fine he will turn up as a DC and excel a similar path Flores took after Miami. Jets on the other hand well, Jets B Jets.

It makes perfect sense to do it now. This is Aaron Rodgers last season with these players with expiring contracts, a team that on paper should be alot better.. this is all on the hc. Woody Johnson did alot of stupid things but this isn't one of them. While alot of team owners fire coaches in their first season, woody is too patient at times, but today he did the right thing.

I have watched every single snap of football under the Robert saleh era. He’s not a good coach. He installs a good defense and can develop defensive talent. His game planing is terrible, his team is undisciplined and starts slow constantly, his clock management skills are awful and he’s extremely stubborn when it comes to making adjustments. All the energy saleh had in San Fran has been evaporated. Saleh is a great guy and a good motivator but he’s not an X’s and O’s coach. As a fan who’s watched every game, every practice, every press conference, this was the correct decision.

@@queitn6287 he’s in his 4th year and has been the same coach every year. Do you think it would be better for them to lose to Buffalo and Pittsburgh and be 2-5 and then you fire him when the seasons really over?? As a coach you are only as good as your record says you are and Robert saleh is 20-36. Enough said.

@TheBigB22 but who do u blame when they lose this week or next, all I see is another excuse for Rodgers to dodge accountability for his own play, the o-line didn't block, wr ran wrong route, defense was holding, coach called wrong play that he audibled out of but since the beginning of time with Rodgers it's always someone else's fault, had Mike McCarthy pushed out when Rodgers just doesn't get it done when it counts

@MrJohansen go look at the offensive stats through 5 games this year vs 5 games last year. They are almost exactly the same except for 3 more ypg this year. And besides the only reason Hackett is there is because of Aaron. So either way it's on him. There is even speculation that the reason Salah got fired is because he was going to fire Hackett.

I think the big question is did the owners have these discussions with Saleh ahead of time. There should have been some guidelines set up at the beginning of the season to say if you're 2-3 we're gonna fire you. For them to do this so quickly I can definitely see this season lost already.

How will it make it worse is a question Mike is avoiding. They’ve hit rock bottom, and Saleh has too good of a roster to be looking like this. Honestly, he’s not adding much as a head coach and firing him suggests that Woody wanted him gone last offseason and against his better judgement kept him on. This firing is long overdue.

Have you seen Carolina or the titans? The jets haven't hit rock bottom and it's only because of the defense. The qb with to much power and the OC that Salah didn't want the the qb brought on, are very obviously the problem.
