Do you know how to reset the LCD screen so it clears the mileage? I like to calculate mileage for each trip instead of it accumulating the combined mileage as if I’m driving a car.

@YouTruther you are a handy guy but there are plenty of us who aren't. This bike is very affordable but there is an expression that goes "you get what you pay for." In your experience do these bikes hold up over time? What kind of maintenance is expected? Will my local ebike shop repair it if I didn't buy it from them? Thanks.

I have a video where I touched up on the topic of repair, have not published. As for the cost of an ebike correlating with durability/longevity, I use my jetson bolt a ton (still), it's a budget bike that gets shared by family members, In short, they do last a good while, and if I had to learn only one skill, it would be brake adjustment. My college bound son uses an Ebike as a car replacement, and he is all over the place, hundreds of miles, if not into the thousands by now..... adjusting the brakes, mainly the cable, is his number one thing. Second thing you may run into, would be flat tires, slime mostly takes care of that, so an ounce of prevention really is a lb of gold. As far as shop repairs, best to check out the shops nearby before you buy one to see what type of service they offer, a few of the local ones around my area are willing to look at most ebikes (high amount of ebike area so it makes sense), where they run into trouble is getting parts..... a more complex bike has more parts to break, just keep that in mind. That said, they could do a throttle replacement if needed, a pedal assist replacement if needed, a controller, motor replacement if needed...... but can you/shop get the part? Some manufacturers sell them, some dont. After putting in a tremendous amount of hours riding, these things are pretty darn reliable compared to gopeds, remember those? those things were deadly lmao

@@YouTruther Thanks! I may take the plunge and buy one. I like the Onebot's styling, it's foldable and light weight, geared, but I only wish it had more range, can't have everything though, however if it runs out of juice I figure I can peddle it back to home base, that's where the gears come in handy. I've got a deskjob as a software developer so I'm really in it for the exercise. What advice would you offer regarding charging? Another 4 people died in NYC last week from ebike batteries catching fire. My wife's not too happy with me buying one. I hear that the rule of thumb is 'if you ride it for 3 hours then plug it in for 3 hours, nothing more.' Frankly I don't understand why they can't build in more safety features. I keep my Mac plugged in ALL the time, never a worry.

@@brianmorgan5880 hey man, I'm a fellow software developer as well (primary job). There are not too many UL listed ebikes on the market, and the ones that are, tend to cost thousands (I've checked every single charger and battery for UL listings and bandit and the jetson haze were like the only ones to have the chargers listed). Some have fake UL listings as well, so buyer beware. The 280 WH pack on the onebot will cause a whole lot less damage than a 900wh pack on an engwe. There is a slow and steady movement to UL listed ebikes, no doubt in my mind, they will ALL move this way for a few reasons. The political calls for it cant be ignored. Major chinese manufacturers, not many, they are moving that direction. The UL parts I mentioned earlier, they are made by ONE manufacturer, and the same manufacturer makes the non listed chargers as well! Batteries are not far behind for a similar reason, big chinese manufacturers are already making them, just not for the majority of ebikes, and that includes lectric and rad.

One more thing I forgot to mention, the onebot has an usually slow charger, only 1.5A, and it is tiny. Slow charge, slow runaway charging (worst case scenario).

crap happens, I cant dwell or keep a grudge for too long, unlike my wife 😁. I'm convinced every couple has their rough patches, some more than others, and beneath the social media luster, there is real life that simply isnt as pretty, and because my wife is happy now, doesnt mean her inner rage has settled 🤣🤣🤣, jokes are just my way of coping with life.
