The Tragic Story Of Garnet Smith aka Garnet Silk. Emerging as the most sought after singer in the early 1990s, with his silky, crisp, smooth voice, Garnet Silk made a great impact on reggae music. He was always compared to Bob Marley because of his lyrical messages or even being the next Bob Marley. His stage performance was always energetic and educational as he preached and sang. He gave us hits like Green-line, Music is the Rod, Bless Me, Psalms 68 and many more. There was an gas tank explosion in the kitchen where his mother was getting ready to cook. The house was engulfed with fire. Hearing the blast, ran in to save her and didn’t make it out. The two were discovered after the fire was contained. Some say they were holding hands, others say they were hugging. This story may not be the most accurate since there are different stories out there also. His brother Aaron Silk continued to make but was not as successful as Garnet Silk.
