Thay guy just walked out on being a fighter pilot. If I was outside that office I would have been like HEY! heard there was a pilot slot?.

TheAceOfSpades There is a Perisher series(U.K.), about a submarine captain's course. If they complete the course, they will get a submarine Captain's poisition. If the candidate fails the course and if they had worked on a submarine prior to the course, they can no longer work on a submarine or even go back to thei old sub billet. They can only get surface ships or land based billets. One young man, whose instructor felt good about his performance and attitude, walked in and told the instructor he was done.

Why would you ever give up on being a fast-jet pilot when so close and after so long getting there. that will surly haunt him later in life as a major regret.

Surely their explanation of the E Bracket at 13:40 is backwards? It is opposite to the AOA bracket (LG down) in the F-16 at least. In the F-16 the FPM floats within the AOA bracket to show where you AOA is at; if the FPM falls to bottom of the AOA bracket (or, more correctly, the AOA bracket rises to the top of the FPM) then it means the AOA is too high and you're therefor too slow. I think they have their footage backwards in this scene.

Their explanation is correct. The F-16's E Bracket is backwards from how the hornet works. You can look it up in the NATOPS.

If the F-16 that I used to fly had the FCS warning come on we would have never left the ground. That guy would have immediately been flunked out of flight school. They're way to forgiving up their in Canada and don't even get me started on the guy that was scared of lightning lol.

I'm not even a pilot and could have told you that was a no-go when the FCS fails and has to reboot, and he waits until it happens again 2x in THE AIR before even thinking its a serious issue?! This guy shouldn't be flying jets.

Not always. BIT (Built In Tests) on the FCS/FLCS sometime generate spurious errors. Pilots usually just hit FLCS reset and run the BIT again.
@heathfitzgerald3634 жыл бұрын
I flew F16s and I agree with the comment. That jet should have never left the ground. In America he would've been kicked out of school. Canadians are way to forgiving. Making mistakes like that could be unforgiving.

@@heathfitzgerald363 What did his training tell him to do? The newbies, canadian and american, have diddly squat for experience. If I have a failure in my plane I go through the checklist. If the problem can be cleared and no faults then you are typically good to go. There are some things I would return right away because I would not be comfortable continuing with. I have 15,000+ hrs experience and I will tell you what I would do when I had 300 hrs and what i would do now are quite different but you can't teach someone experience. I am not experienced on the F18 so I can't tell you what the procedures are. On the second FCS failure I would for sure start to be concerned and have returned. It's always easy to be an armchair quarterback.
