Twice in the series someone has tried to tell Ichigo of his Quincy lineage. The first time was when "Zangetsu" and Ichigo met, Ichigo asked him "who are you" to which Zangetsu TRIED to reply with " Who am I? Don't you know, it's me---" and he was cut off by something preventing him from saying his name, Yhwach(won't spoil who does that). The 2nd time is with Aizen trying to say he's the offspring of a Shinigami and a Quincy but before he could say that... Isshin intervenes and tells him "you talk too much Aizen" 💀. It all comes together here in a VERY beautiful way from Aizen's involvement, his mother & dad and even the MAIN villain being here this whole time.

There's also Ichigo's bed... He has blue cross bed sheets 💀. In the fight with Kenpachi "Zangetsu" uses the Quincy's shadow technique to transport him. The foreshadowing has been there it's just it's very subtle... That's Kubo style, he makes you really contemplate and go back to piece things together and when it does BOOM you're amazed lol.

The first time when Old Man Zangetsu tried to tell Ichigo, it is confirmed by Kubo himself that it had something to do with Ichibe. At least in the manga ch 63, his speech bubble that written "Yhwach" was "censored" by Ichibe's ink.

"The Blade *IS* Me" is both a figurative & literal representation of Ichigo accepting not only his powers as a part of him, but also accepting himself & who he is. Bleach's (more specifically Ichigo's) story is one of self discovery, confidence, & acceptance of who you are. So glad to call Bleach my first & favorite anime/manga of all time.

Unlike, Naruto and many other (great) shounens, Ichigo doesn't start from zero and has to train to gain more power. He's had all the power he needs from the start and the struggle is for him to control that power, and all the dismay that comes from it maybe going out of control. "The Blade and Me" to "The Blade is Me" is not about him getting a sudden power up, it's him accepting who he is, realizing that he IS his power and it can't go out of control like it's a seperate entity. He's fully realized and unshackled. He IS Zangetsu.

The "rain" refers to the sadness Ichigo feels in his inner world in which Zangetsu resides. Same thing can be apply when he revealed his true idendity and then Ichigo's inner world starts to crumble.

A few more references of how old man zangetsu was insanely foreshadowed: When fighting byakuya in the crazed hollow form, ichigo has black reiatsu with red outlines. After ichigo takes back control and rips off the mask, his reiatsu has a quincy blue outline. During the Final Getsuga Tensho, ichigo has long black hair and red eyes, just like juha. His reiatsu is also blue and black like in the byakuya fight. Also, the kid tensa zangetsu we see in his inner world is just the teenage version of juha They allude yet don't say it explicitly, but the kenpachi fight was the first used instance of blut vene As someone else said, juha tried to tell ichigo his name when they first met, but ichigo couldn't hear him, which led juha to tell him zangetsu. Why he couldn't hear him, we don't know (yet). Also, white has been insisting he is Zangetsu since the beginning despite ichigo thinking it's just a taunt. In the manga chapter 110 (not sure if it's in the anime) there is an iconic panel where white has his usual shit-eating grin, but in the reflection of his blade you can see he's sad, referencing how ichigo still doesn't accept him. It really is the greatest reveal I've ever seen, and your reaction was wonderful to watch as a manga reader. This last one is a fan theory I just saw on Twitter, but I personally hold as it canon cuz it makes so much sense: Old man zangetsu is yhwach from 1000 years ago, which means he is the same juha that fought Yamamoto. Thus, when ichigo was training for his fake bankai old man zangetsu had to decide what it would look like. He based it off the only bankai he ever saw; zanka no tachi. Ichigo gets a small black blade which condenses all his powers, just like how yamas blade turns black after its been charred in zanka no tachi: east. This theory is simply too good for me not to believe it. Can't wait for cour 2!

I always saw Tensa Zangetsu being a small thin blade because that's what White's arms looked like, especially when that sword becomes infused with the Hollow-centered Fullbring and it gains the jagged backside, like White's blades.

Now this is a bit late :D Sorry for the necromancy. There is also a good implication that "Final Getsuga" is a perfect hybrid version of Last Stil (the thing Ishida used against Mayuri). Basically the only people who talk about "final getsuga" are OMZ and Isshin both of whom are confirmed liars whenever it suits them. Masaki grew up in the same house as Ishida's grandfather who was a big fan of the technique so she probably knew it and we can see that Ishin knows her powers in depth. There is no direct confirmation but I always imagine Old Man Zangetsu would be thinking: "FInal Getsuga? Well I have no clue what that is supposed to be, but I might as well teach him Last Stil, it's not like he can tell the difference."

In the manga when Ichigo first met "Zangetsu" his name was blacked out. Supposedly he was trying to say Yhwach, as in the anime you can hear a faint "ha" after his name was distorted. When ichigo first met Zangetsu in the manga Zangetsu said "I AM Zangetsu" whilst smiling. But in his reflection you could see him frowning due to Ichigo not believing him.

Old Man Zangetsu isn't literally Ywhach, he's Ichigo's quincy powers, and since quincy powers all ultimately derive from Ywhach himself, he took the form of Yhwach. He is now manifested as the smaller blade of Ichigo's Shikai while White is the larger blade.

basically, Uryu’s mom is what they call a Gemistch Quincy (half-breed) and Masaki was a Echt Quincy (pure-blood) before her fight with White. When Yhwach activated the Auswalhën, he planned to take the life of every Gemistch Quincies but Masaki could’ve just loose her powers if Grand Fisher wasn’t here and not her life like Katagiri. So in short, due to her Hollow, Masaki was mistaken by Yhwach for a Gemistch

During Ichigo vs Kenpachi, Old Man Zangetsu stopped Ichigos bleeding with Quincy abilities and if you look at Ichigos reiatsu when he powers up it takes the form of a Hollow Mask so I'm guessing Old Man Zangetsu tapped into real Zangetsus power to make him be able to match Kenpachi, he could do this because he was the center of Ichigos power at the time, as we saw when real Zangetsu got absorbed by Old Man Zangetsu in Ichigos inner world.

@@christiank.3686 Yep, both of them are Zangetsu. There's commonly called "Old man Zangetsu" and "White Zangetsu" to differenciate them. Moreover, if you noticed, each sword is one of them, the bigger one is White Zangetsu, Ichigo's shinigami and hollow powers, and the smaller one is Old man Zangetsu, his quincy powers (hence why it's smaller). It's subtelly hited in the final scene: Ichigo says "I won't ask you to lend me your strength anymore" with flashback of Zangetsu, the smaller sword disapear, then he says "I won't tell you to stay out of my way, either" with flashback of White Zangetsu, the bigger sword disapear, then Old man Zangetsu appear on the side where the small sword was, and White Zangetsu on the other (where the bigger sword was). There's also a bunch of other clues about this but that's manga spoiler.

I'll make sure not to spoil. Just so you know, yeah, his old Zanpakuto all this time was his version of a Quincy bow, (they use way more than just bows, which they revealed this arc), with his own Volstandig. Remember how Quilge in EP 3 wore his own spiritual energy? Now Ichigo wore a jacket in "Bankai", that was part of his "Bankai", which he mentioned back in Hueco Mundo to Unohana. That was actually his Volstandig. Also, he looked EXACTLY LIKE YHWACH when he used Mugetsu against Aizen, with the black hair and red eyes and everything. He even used Blut Vene to stop bleeding out against Kenpachi, this was all planned out since day 1. He's finally accepted both Zangetsus as part of himself, not the other way around, and not as partners or someone else to work with (which is a very big difference), so the Blade IS him. He fights by himself, with himself. He IS Zangetsu. That's what the Blade Is Me means. Ichigo is now at the level again that he was when he stepped out of the Dangai against Aizen. Man I can't wait for July, this is the best "awakening" scene in anime, hands down.

I think the reason Old Man Zangetsu pretended to be Ichigo’s Zanpaktou Spirit is because in the earlier Episode of Bleach (Ep 19) he tried to tell Ichigo his Name but it was completely Buzzed when tried telling it. Hence, he used the name Zangetsu to make Ichigo think that he is the Center of his Power (Quincy)

The reason why old man Zangetsu seemingly had a special interest in Ichigo, is because old man Zangetsu is also the villain Yhwach in a sense. Old man Zangetsu is Ichigo's Qunicy powers taken form and all Qunicy powers come directly from the villain Yhwach's blood. He didn't want Ichigo to become a soul reaper because when the villain Yhwach returned in this arc he would have to kill Ichigo/his metaphorical son for being a soul reaper.

During the fight with Kenpachi, Zangetsu used Blut to stop Ichigo's bleeding. He also took him into that "time out" to talk to him, by using the Shadow ability that the quincies have been using for the chosen ones to travel to and from the Wandenreich (their whole base is basically in "time out").

When zangetsu started fading and said he was happy, think you should know that at that point 'zangetsu' yhwach was a complete separate entity to the quincy ywhach that we have now. Thats what he was referencing when said 'I was ywhach, yet i am not' as well as when he said if ichigo became a soul reaper, he knew that the present him would have to kill him because of the feud between quincy and reapers. Its just really sad for him. Really respect u jet, from one bleach fan to another. You really pick up on alot of really subtle hints and theorycraft along the way even if its right or wrong which makes it fun. Also fact that you did this finale in one video rather than split it into different videos at least for me shows that you do this for the love of the series more than anything. My theory on Getsuga Tenshou: It was originally a Zanjutsu technique where the user manually gathers their spiritual pressure and releases it in a slash, likely with several users in the past. Isshin showed it off in this episode and during the fight against Aizen (without using Shikai), and displayed knowledge of the Final Getsuga Tenshou. Since we know he didn't loose his shinigami powers using it, it is evidence that there were other users in the past that he knew about. Ichigo's shikai power is to manually gather and compress his spiritual pressure, so it is a technique he can use naturally.

Some things I got (I never read the manga btw) -Ychwach said in ep 1 when killed the arrancar quincies that he doesn't like conflicts and proceeds to cut the arrancar's arm, now from the flashbacks we see Old Man Zangetsu saying he is not an enemy nor ally, he doesn't want Ichigo to become a shinigami because that will make him enter the conflict/war. -He said he'll kill Ichigo, that'a because he's a quincy, he is suppose to kill shinigamis. -He didnt proceed to kill ichigo and instead support him, he already said the reason is that he saw.Ichigo's journey as well as his pain and suffering, basically he acted like a parent. -Old Man Zangetsu and Ychwach are the same yet not, think of it as Old Man Zangetsu as a clone and separate from Ychwach, he is a manifestation of the quincy blood and ppwers inside Ichigo, thats why he looks like the Ychwach 1000 years ago because thats when the quincies were made, when his blood eas distributed. -I just realized this now, Ichigo's powers(reiatsu) esp Getsuga Tensho has the same color eff as quincy powers which is white and light blue...

You're right, the "sword" Ichigo was using was in fact a Spirit Weapon, which are the "bows" Quincy use. In Hueco Mundo earlier this season, Ichigo fought Opie who used a sword as his bow, the concept is the same. Quincy Zangetsu created the sword to allow Ichigo to channel his Soul Reaper powers through it like a Zanpakuto. However, Oetsu specifically points out that a Zanpakuto needs an Asauchi has a medium to be considered a real Zanpakuto. That is when Ichigo first turned into a Soul Reaper he just "had" a sword, even though he never made one through an Asauchi. Likewise, Quincy Zangetsu was never letting the full extent of Ichigo's Soul Reaper powers express through the blade. So it never had Ichigo's full Zanpakuto abilities either.

The way i like to explain ichigo's false zanpakuto is that he was essentially swinging around white's body. By using white's body, he would still have a medium to draw out his power, and it also makes sense how he would still have forms like a shikai and bankai, because his fake zanpakuto still had a somewhat strong connection to his powers, considering that it was essentially the physical body of the being within his soul.

first you got it extremly good what yhwach acctually is, he is inspiried by the cristian religion and their version of the one god and someone ... ehm really famous in history, you know who i mean xD the second one, ichigos bankai is more a resurrection than anything else, its boosting his speed, turns his attacks in black ceros and covering his whole body, "old man zagetsu" has just giving him reatsu to fight and something like "blut vene" to stop ichigos bleeding against kenpachi for example, also it was the reason why his getsuga was blue-white like ishida abitlity too (or the other quincys)

in the manga theres a special panel right in the beginning where ichigo first meets old man zangetsu when he tries to tell ichigo his name he cant hear him bc its black out with ink its so the person who blacked it out was ichibe to protect ichigo from knowing old man zangetsus real name at the time

There's an episode in season 1 when Ichigo 1st meets Zangetsu during his zanpakuto training with Urahara where Zangetsu tells Ichigo his real name but it was bleeped out and Ichigo couldn't hear it but you can tell it was 4 sylllables. At the end of the censoring you hear "haa" as in Juha Ba haa. In the manga, the name he said was crossed out in black, and there's a significant lore reason for the crossing out of his name but I can't tell you without spoiling something.
