Thanks! I feel like the most underrated tip I have ever had for sim racing is the looking at the apex. That really shaves up a couple of tenths easily. I, unfortunately, play with the racing line in the corners, and I catch myself focusing on the line too much and so not looking at the apex I want to hit. But whenever I do remember to look at the apex I do carry much more speed through the corner.

@@cyclenutter2715 That's much easier said than done lol. I would need to put in quite some hours to learn all the braking/turning points for all tracks. And unfortunately, I do not have all that time. Maybe some tracks I would already be able to drive without line, like Australia (since it's the track I've put in more hours). But for others, the struggle would be very real.

For guys still using the racing line assist: If you are going into every corner where the line is still green, you are braking too hard. You should try to make it a goal to where the racing line is still yellow. If it is green, you are braking too much and scrubbing off too much speed. The racing line assist and the braking indicator is to ensure you don't go off the track, but not necessarily a guideline for the quickest lap. Brake later and aim for yellow colored blocks in corners and you will see lap times drastically improve. Then once you improve lap times, you can start to get rid of that assist.

I started 2 days back... thanks to this I really felt some improvements. I'm always slower than everyone around my in Online. So I did some practice in Australia and was able to pull a 1:24.768, I felt speedier trough the corners. I normally was too afraid to use the Apex or use the full length of the track and with that fear gone, I'm more daring and getting really fast trough every corner. I just tend to somehow lose time in straights.

I started right of the bat without assists so I can learn without them and I think I am doing kiiinda okay, but the braking is giving me real trouble. And this video really helps. For sure I will watch it a few more times so I can really focus on the things you said.

I’m into DiRT Rally 2.0 so allot of this stuff I already know, but had to find out through just driving. Things like left foot braking- on Tarmac I was able to shave off 9 seconds in one stage just by learning that. Anyway I bought f1 2019 because I really wanted to drive the 70’s cars, and it was the newest f1 game that had them. I do ok at it, I find it’s more just patience and holding the right racing line and braking points. Rally is more wild, cutting corners, braking as late as possible. More fun imo, but f1 is interesting.

@williamrosa8577
@williamrosa8577 4 жыл бұрын
The tips he gave on the video are pretty much what you should do without any assistance. Break hard at first, ease on the brakes as you're steering and then smoothly increase the throttle as you're exiting. You'll find that if you break too much while steering you'll lock up and if you apply too much power on the throttle you'll lose control and possibly spin. With practice you'll develop a feel for the car and it will be like second nature.

@tayntedmemories
@tayntedmemories 4 жыл бұрын
I recommend trying to ease into throttle. If your spinning, it's because too much power is put down on the rear wheels (F1 is RWD obviously) And the rear doesn't have enough grip to handle this sudden power, and it spins.

It’s kinda funny I suck at fighting games cause I can never remember the combos but in a day I learned 3 tracks and how to play without all the assists on. I struggled for the first couple hours getting use to no traction control since I just went ahead and turned that off completely but after a while I started getting less over anxious on the throttle and now I rarely spin out. I’m still trying to figure out when I can hammer down the throttle so I consistently loose time there. Even when i short shift I can’t just hammer down the throttle it takes finesse. Its just hard being patient on the throttle when you see other cars planting the throttle just a few inches ahead of you when your just learning to turn off tc. I went ahead a started a new my team at as low of an ai I can get without being left in the dust or being on top. It sucks that I had to lower the difficulty but it’s great for building confidence when your just starting to turn off all the assists.

Not op or good at this game, but what I did was stick with no TC and ABS for a few days. My time got worst and I had to turn down the AI just so I can get something other than 22nd in my team (the same difficulty I played with Mid TC and ABS on I was consistently getting P10 or better) Even after turning down the difficulty I couldn't even finish in points. Went to a time attack mode on Spain just to practice with zero assist on. I got frustrated by the slow times and turned on my old assist settings just to see how much better I was with those on. Lo and behold the first corner I realized my brakes aren't biting into the road at it's limit and I'm forced to brake earlier. I also realize I couldn't put power down as soon as I'd like to. That's when I realize how much faster I can be if I can master no assist.

Thanks again for your comment and for confirming, there're just no short-cuts. Good luck with your racing!

Controller is *horrendous* on this game if you wanna be competitive. I've been a pad user since 2013, always within the top 1% in time trials, the odd league racing, but this game I just cannot go as fast as I want with the controller. Its too hectic? You have to be unbelievably precise with turn ins as its overly responsive (whereas with a wheel you can just ease the steering into the corner), and the quick change of direction is almost impossible to nail on a consistent basis
