Jewel Cave from Above

On the way to the Devil's Tower, it was worth taking a moment and visiting the Jewel Cave National Monument. It is located near the South Dakota/Wyoming border. It was dedicated by Theodore Roosevelt in the early 20th century. As a matter of fact, this cave has one of the largest known tunnel networks in the country. There are up to 200 miles worth of networks, and that's just what is known.
Jewel Cave gets its name from the fact that it is filled with Dogtooth Spar. The quartz crystals look very similar to a dog's tooth, hence the name. However, this video focuses a bit more on the bedrock found from above the cave since there was no opportunity to film within the cave.
