That’s song hits me so hard man. I first heard it when I was 14, I’m 52 now. The first time I heard it was on a record player, I was in tears by the end. I new nothing about addiction or even if it was real. Un-ironically, the friend that first played it for me died of an overdose years later. Since them I’ve lost so many friends to heroin. I literally could not listen to this song in public because it would just break me down into a puddle. Jewel is a special person, so I tried listening to her version, of course I cried, but I healed a little too. Thanks Jewel, I can now listen to the original version as well as yours. You’ve restored me to a song lost long ago because of an unbelievable amount of pain, I will forever be in your debt. 🤙
