3:14 ... She gets me every time with the fierceness of her voice and lyrics during that part of the song when performed Live. 🥰

this woman.... speechless about her since I first heard her on the radio in 96. I was 6 years old.

6? Jesus. I wasn't even aware of she had shed two lights on the what we now consider a balled. Honestly I've never see or heard someone capable of the honest and loathsome brutality of what most of us had to fight through to be in-affectuate and causing fleeting love and pomisies in the destroyed argument.

After years of course the intensity of the emotion, the feeling, the whatever made her to move to sing this song is getting lower, still I appreciate the genius for doing this for mortals like me. Who's is listening this in 2024 ?

And the best thing about holding something against somebody is just don't let the sun go down on your wrath man just get it out let it go and then it's all good start fresh and new you know some folks don't know how to do that

Look we go through phases and we are on the inside then we're starting to look from the outside and then we just eyes open up and then you know we believe in something then realize that we were wrong and just goes on and on and on because of knowledge and things like that but now it's bring Sarah so the best thing to do is just keep singing enjoying rock and roll and hopefully I'll be at your concert and you'll see me and I'll see you and that'll be it it'll be all over we'll just live a good happy life

As someone who just found out about her music and has been going through several videos going back to the beginning, I have to same her voice and interpretation is still amazing. However, it is disappointing to see her dressing up in gaudy costumes to sing her beautiful songs. It diminishes them in some way for me, brings them to level of pop entertainment rather than art.

Seriously. Who is this imposter trying to sing a Jewel song? Her voice is similar but the interpretation is comical. I miss 90s Jewel. She has totally lost touch with the soul needed to sing this song.
@THORnado_of_Souls2 жыл бұрын
Sorry, I rarely downvote, but I couldn't disagree more. Neither do I feel that the interpretation is "comical", nor do I think that the interpretation must or should be the same always and everywhere. PS: I would be extremely happy if such authentic, absolutely exceptional artists were not so rare here in Germany. Calling Jewel, of all people, an imposter... Well hats off!
@SX-sv6vo2 жыл бұрын
@@THORnado_of_Souls I respect your opinion and glad you like this version of her song. I have been to her concert in the early 2000s and she was at that time a very soulful singer performing her songs with such heart. It's definitely her call as an artist to change and interpret as she wishes. I just personally do not prefer this version or interpretation. I'm glad you like it.
@THORnado_of_Souls2 жыл бұрын
@@SX-sv6vo Thank you for your constructive feedback. Of course, you and everyone else are allowed to think that this version is not as good as previous versions, and also that you openly communicate your great disappointment about it. PS: By the way, I also find various previous versions better than this version, or those versions hit me even harder in the heart. As far as that is concerned, we seem to be in absolute agreement. But I think this version here is not "bad", it is just "different". And I can understand it absolutely, if an artist would like to "serve" a song differently once, after he played it for decades umpteen times. I was only disturbed that Jewel was immediately called an imposter. But maybe I misunderstood a little bit. Now that I have your more differentiated feedback, I think that with "imposter" was not meant as maliciously as it sounded to me, but due to great disappointment possibly also a little ironic. Therefore no hard feelings, I gladly take back the downvoting here. By the way: It would be a catastrophe for me if Bob Dylan didn't play his song "All Along the Watchtower" in the other version, the one by Jimmy Hendrix (which he himself apparently considers to be authoritative and based own live performances of the version on it). This song and this version (Hendrix version) is among my absolute top favorites. Here I would be really saddened to death if he (Dylan) had never performed a deviation from the original! There are certainly many other examples of this, e.g. the same is especially true for me for the modified version of "Older Chests" (filmed at home in 2018) by Damian Rice (see @ YT). Also, many live versions of Damians songs blow my mind even more than the "standard" studio versions. And I'm sure there will be plenty more performances where Jewel plays and interprets "Foolish Games" in the way that blows us both away the most! 🙂
@SX-sv6vo2 жыл бұрын
@@THORnado_of_Souls Yes. I meant imposter sarcastically and sadly. I love folksy Jewel. Her songs and heart felt so pure and genuine. I really do feel this version does not serve the song well or her gifts well. She is the type of singer that can grow old gracefully. Her voice is so strong and with the right songs, will continue to sell out intimate concert halls. She doesn't need to resort to this type of performance in my humble opinion.

If you’ve been signing the same song for 25 years, you’d probably be tired if it too and want to change it up. I saw her in this tour and once 20 years ago - there’s room for both versions
