And proving correct what we already knew, we got the Chiefs vs Birds Super Bowl that everyone expected, yet nobody wanted 😄 That Cooper DeJean Philly picked up was an absolute steal though. Oh well, I'll just get drunk and be fat on chicken wings and lil smokeys no matter who is playing lol. Anyway, this seems like an odd move for the Sparks. The rookie class coming in, is going to be very good. It seems bad to give up a future prospect, just for Plum. Sure, she's a vet, and she's not bad. But not worth that draft pick with this rookie class imo

It is a business move. A big 4 with Plum puts more butts on seats than drafting Olivia Miles, that's the truth. Maybe not a good sports decision, but it is a decent business decision. Also, Olivia Miles had an ACL injury last year, maybe they don't want to risk having too young players coming off an ACL tear. It can end great or it can end bad, so they decided to do this trade which is less risky.

I'm curious which version of the trade is correct- the one Shams featured (which you highlight here) or the one Annie Costabille is reporting. The difference is: in Annie's the Aces are also giving up their 2026 1st round pick (to Seattle) and Seattle is giving up their 2026 2nd round pick (to the Sparks). This makes the trade worse for the Aces and better for the Sparks, and probably a little better for Seattle (unless Seattle absolutely tanks this year, the Aces 2026 1st will be worth a decent bit more than their 2nd). Honestly, I think if it's Annie's version it's...OK? For everyone? Given 2026's draft depth, Li Yueru is probably equivalent or only a little better than Seattle's 2026 2nd round pick (she was a 3rd rounder when she was drafted). The 9th pick, which they're receiving, is obviously better than the 13th they're giving up. So this is pretty close to #2 for Plum straight up. In any other draft, and in any other year, that'd be a steal for the team getting Plum. Miles is probably better than your average #2, though, and obviously the CBA complicates things. But Plum is probably not a rental. LA is in a unique position in that they don't have anyone they're going to want to core for awhile, and Plum is- by all accounts- uniquely interested in playing in LA. So it wouldn't be a shock to see Plum signing a multi-year deal, with language allowing for her salary to increase pending the new CBA. I'm pretty sure that's a thing. People keep assuming that players who sign multi-year deals would be screwed if the CBA changes but I don't see why. You could have a clause that says, "If the CBA is altered, Player X will make 5% less than the max allowable salary during the term of this contract". If you get 3 years of Plum for Miles, basically straight up, that seems OK. Maybe not ideal. But OK.

Bad trade for the sparks IMO. I like KP but wouldn't trade the #2
@Darth_LordB23 күн бұрын
LA traded an unknown for known at a position of need. That’s a helluva win IMO 👏 If it works out KP will definitely resign long term so it’s win-win for her & LA. They will still get a high value rookie in this draft. They gave up a 2nd rd pick that odds & history shows will not make the roster or contribute anything next year if they did make it. They are also more than likely to be cut the following season. This is why I say if you have 2 good young players F! them picks. It’s hard for 1st rd picks to even make W rosters or even contribute in that 1st year & forget about 2nd rd picks. There’s a reason the W is considered the hardest league to make it in because it’s true! This was not a bad deal in if fact it was very smart deal for LA IMO there really is no clear cut #1 pick & there is very little difference talent wise between 1-10. Drafting rule #1 NEVER! draft for need or a specific position you pick the best player period! You can always trade down or the move players to get something you need later. That’s why there are so many bust draft picks because teams reach for players out of need instead of simply picking the best player when the time comes. But bravo LA 👏 this was a great trade for them. LA is in great shape to make a run to the playoffs & compete for a championship once Cam is back healthy IMO. 1. KP 2. Rae Burrell 3. Rickea Jackson 4. Hamby 5. Cam Brink Remove KP at point & add CC & it’s the perfect roster for her, long athletic 3 & D wings, & stretch 5. that provides elite rim protecting. The Sparks will be the W’s version of the Celtics. It’s a perfect modern 🏀 lineup. I said months ago that LA had a better young core than the Fever & they would have better team if the Fever don’t improve their roster. It showed in their games last year. Everyone loves these Fever players but they are mid all of them except for CC. She made them look better than they are but when they played against the top teams it showed. They need to add talent to help CC period! Or they will get left behind & CC will leave in 3 years. They are on the clock to deliver her teammates that can help her win championships.

Big news, small impact as I see it. Aces getting Loyd is a downgrade. LA gives up a 2nd overall, Storm get a nice #2, but are swapping picks, and get Li Who? Given that the new CBA negotiations start after this season, so much will change, I'm not sure this will have any lasting impact. But sure, Seattle gets the win for landing a #2 overall for Loyd.

Basically Sparks are saying that Plum is better than any Rookie prospect in 2025 I am going to defend Plum's "down" year. You have to consider Plums stats in light of Aja's quest to make sure she won the MVP. If you look at the Aces starters, ALL of their numbers decreased while Aja was chasing the MVP. When she won her MVP in 2022, Aja averaged 19.5 while Plum averaged 20 3 or so. Then in 2022 Plums numbers went down while Aja averaged nearly 23 - and she lost the MVP. Aja was so mad she made sure to play selfish ball to win MVP and her teammates suffered. Between the selfishness of Wilson and her condescending statement about Plum privilege, Kelsey wanted out. EXPECT her numbers to bounce back to around 19 ppg

@@juanmachado1844 You made no refutation of a single point that I have made. Insults are not an argument, Mr. 1844. A'ja's career average is 20 and 9. But her averages jumped to 23 ppg in 2023 and then to 28 ppg in 2024 before it finally came down to 26.7. There was no injury to account for her numbers jumping in 2023. Grey being out in the first half does not explain such a GIANT leap in her numbers and the coinciding DECREASE in all of the other starters.
