I always enjoy shopping Goodwill. I buy Christmas decor in the snowman motif because it goes through the winter and not just Christmas. Off season, I look for Christmas platters and especially cookie jars which I saw featured here. I clean them up and fill with goodies which is always welcomed in households with children. ALSO, I have filled our playroom for the grand girls with toys from our local Goodwill. Donate them back and refill the toy bins when they outgrow them. Thanks for this inspiring segment!

My stepmother has used the "you are special today" red plates for years for birthday dinners. They are about $35 each retail. I have found her 4 or 5 at yard sales for about $2 each so she can give them to family members and help continue the tradition.

Hi Mary Beth, I loved this video with the James Avery and gold and diamond jewellery. How awesome? I loved that you added the jewellery in this one. Keep this up and it's just so wonderful to see all your beautiful finds. I found 2 x 9ct gold and diamond pendants on a junk chain in an op shop a couple of weeks ago for $2. Sadly, you are right. I donated a $500 pair of used Louboutin shoes to Goodwill and found them on eBay the next day. I emailed the person who listed them and they said they got the shoes from their “rich friends” lol. I reported the person to Goodwill and eBay. There was no way those shoes ever hit the floor. Such a shame.

James Avery is a Texas jewelry designer. Mr. Avery started his business in a garage creating religious pieces. My grandmother bought his pendants at church bazaars. The company has lots of retail stores and is now represented in Dillard’s department stores throughout the U.S. I grew up with one of his sons and it’s still a family business.

What a wealth of information you have to share with us...,such as the James Avery Jewelry which I've never heard of before but the Silver pieces you picked out were a great find which I wouldn't have realized and probably would have passed them up. Jewelry really adds a finishing touch which you seem to do with your outfits. (I need to remember that because I have pieces that I never wear.) For Christmas I bought a T'was the night before Christmas, by Mary Engelbreit. I bought the book for full price and it helped the author/artist. Those are not knock offs, but “made for outlet” designs, especially the fabric items. They are all still lovely, but in a comparison of outlet leather to legacy leather, you would be able to tell the difference. Great prices none the less.

Yes, the handbags are authentic. Just up the road, there is an outlet mall with Coach and Vera Bradley stores. The Coach bags have the authentic and numbered label on the inside.

James Avery or not, I can't imagine paying more than $7.99 for those pendants at a Goodwill! If the Goodwills in my state priced jewelry like that, I guarantee we'd just end up with bazillions of jewelry jars because no one would be buying.

Prices are "high" because they know some of the brands. But, I did manage to get a $1000 necklace for $49.99. The James Avery was definitely worth it. Saw one of the pendants for $121 on eBay today with "watchers". Still a huge savings over retail. I am always looking for great gifts.
