put the mold on a mirror when you use the uv lamp, it helps cure the bottom,,,just a thought

When I work with uv resin, I think of it like using builder gel. It's basically the same thing, after all! So if I look at the layer I'm pouring and think "that would burn my finger off if it was on my nail", I know it's too thick and I should do 2 or 3 shallower layers instead😅 I'm glad you're having so much fun with this, that makes it really fun to watch!

Yes I've learned as I've gone along how to use the uv resin! I definitely prefer to work with epoxy resin, all I really use the uv is to dome pieces!! But yes I had fun with this jewellery mould xx

Turn them over before you take them out and cure from the bottom of the mold as well. That will cure your curing problem.

thank you Nikki, for your video. I am also learning as well and most of the videos I watched make it look so easy when it isn't. I am sure with practice we will get it down. believe it or not i was working on polymer clay last night and using a jewelry mold when some how I sprained a tendon in my top knuckle on my pointing finger. Never would have thought that could happen. LOL it bends and wont stay straight. hahaha Makes it difficult to being crafty. I love Steve McDonald's videos and Daniel Coppers videos too.

As a traditional resin artist, I have had tons of problems with curing UV resin. That's not to say that UV resin is bad or anything. It's just different. I'm still playing with it and when it works, it's amazingly fun. I might check out one of these kits because I LOVE resin and would love to make jewelry for family and friends. First video I've seen of yours and it was super fun and informative to watch! You're adorable! 🥰

Cool video Nikki. Even though I don’t do resin myself I don’t mind watching them. I often watch others doing resin too and resin pouring. 😊 I hope you don’t mind me say, I think you would probably be best to place your makes on a plain white background, because it will help to show the glitter to its full beauty. When you have a glitter backdrop and glitter items it doesn’t show up so well. You did a good job 👏🏼

I have that mould. I used the leaf one to make a key ring fob for my hubby. Lol IMO resin is the next progression from nails. So much stuff can be used for both. I always turn over the mould and cure the bottom - if the mould is clear like those shown. I have even set on my deck for the sun to cure. I go through my nail stuff (polygel, polish tints glitter etc) and use ones I haven't used on my nails in resin lol. Be safe (mask/gloves) and have fun!! Steve McDonald is great fun to watch and get tips from.

I have the same mold and it was my first try with it.. It seems so thick when you try to put the jump rings in.. I guess I over pour too. Before you take the piece out of the mold turn the mold upside down and under the uv lamp for a minute to make sure the backside hits the light. I dont know if these will sell but it I can say I felt like a kid playing with a new toy all night playing with the resin and making pretty sparkly things!

I think whoever was talking about a mask meant a respirator. I know those fumes are really bad for you, I'd just follow whatever directions the company has, I'm also unsure if UV resin gives off the same fumes, or if it's just the 2 part kind.

I also love to take big “pour paint art pieces” I’ve seen, and turn them into tiny art on key chains. Gel polish is so much easier than a tons of acrylic paint getting everywhere!

I bought a starter kit and a few supplies to get started. The first piece had bubbles. Then the second piece was pretty until I demolded too early and the inner resin was not cured & as I was taking it out these big bubbles erupted inside. Oh No....! Last night I made abalone shell earrings but failed once more. Shells too thick. Upper portion where the hole was did not fill but half way, and the black opaque backing I added, I used a heat gun to remove bubbles but I suppose it moved the resin a bit and tiny little bubble clusters seemed to streak the back. I intend to keep trying until I can create some decent earrings. Also, want to try some nail transfers. I have to wear tri-focal glasses so having bad eyes don't help. 😔

I'm no expert but I have heard if it doesn't cure underneath sometimes you can take a mirror or some mirror foil and put it on a bit of cardboard put it under the light when you put your mold on the light I'm not making myself understood I know put like a mirror under the mold when you put the light over top of it. What you should do and what I think would work is have a 2nd channel for the resain and the original channel for nails and see which one you love more for everyday.. I love both and want to watch both so that would be awesome... I am working up the courage to start a nail channel and to experiment with resin and some how make both loves come together... but I think 2 channels for you would work better... love you lots...

Safety always first is what most KZbin videos say when making resin videos. But it is hard to talk with a mask and be heard and people need to understand that. You a big girl and understand the importance. I would just always put this warning about PPE when working with resin. I don’t understand why people have to be so cruel and attack when someone is not doing what they expect. Wearing a mask and talking so people can hear and understand is very hard, hence majority of the videos are with people not wearing a mask. Like you say your room is well ventilated which is what they say if you not wearing a mask, they don’t know you, they don’t know your environment, don’t let it get to you. Keep the videos going if people don’t like the video they can jog on, no one is forcing them to watch. But I would seriously add the importance of PPE in your videos, that way you covered is someone watching choices to not wear the correct PPE. Lovely video happy resin crafting and enjoy and have fun, that’s what it’s about ❤
