Acrylic Pouring Painting Comb Wrecked Ring Pour Jewel Colors Amazing 24K Gold Emerald Cells
Hello Friends!
My family and I were watching a program about Hummingbirds on Curiosity Stream the other day and the brilliant sparkling greens and blues of their plumage was so incredible to see, especially in high definition.. I was totally excited and inspired and couldn't wait to go paint!!

My Pouring Medium is:
Liquitex Gloss Medium & Varnish
Paint + a bit of Water
Floetrol
I keep my colors on the thicker side, especially my Gold. I layer the cup carefully down the side then pour a Ring Pour.
This is a 24x30 canvas, so I want a little more paint.. so I add more paint to my cup and pour it in the center of the last pour, enlarging it.
I make sure that my flow extender is thin (sinking, not forming a mound) and then I put the flow extender around the pour and on the corners and smooth it out to cover the blank part of the canvas.
I use one of the Pozilon combs (3 skinny tines) to first attempt a bird silhouette, but it doesn't look like a bird lol. I do another few wrecks around the perimeter and then tilt to spread out the pour.
There are some gorgeous parts to this piece.. the center seems to be glowing almost, and looks very floral. The wrecked parts look almost like hummingbird beaks going into the center of a flower to me. There are some amazing gold rings around the perimeter, with that sparkling purple and then some incredibly sparkling Emerald Green..with 24K gold cells inside..! On the other side there is a section of Prussian blue with gold cells and some amazing veins of purple.. really cool!! I may not have gotten a hummingbird but the colors seem pretty close!
I'm really happy with this piece, in the sunlight its so sparkly and shimmery!
I love that the ring pour center is tight and intact.. I like the location of the wrecked parts but I wish I had used a different comb, the 3 tines feels skinny, I would have liked more tines.

This painting is beautiful. A side note, I have had hummingbird nests on my patio, so I installed a camera, above the nest. Two each season. It's amazing to watch. In March Bella (the hummingbird) laid one egg, that wasn't viable. Other birds took her nest, which was rude. She started to rebuild, but stopped, so I think she's building somewhere else, even though she's still at the feeder multiple times a day. They are truly amazing creatures. I love hummingbirds, and your painting captures their amazing colors and flight spot on. The jewel tones shimmer like the bands of color on their bodies as they dance from flower to flower. I had a hummingbird visitor this summer while I was pruning one of my bright oriental bushes. Since I dress in bright colors, as well, the bird sized me up until we were nearly eyeball to eyeball, and then off it went to drink the nectar of the real flowers. It happened so quickly and the little one was gone in a flash but back again a little while later. Your painting captures the colors so well, and I can almost hear the buzz of their flapping wings as I meander through your work. Kudos! I love it! 💜💙💚💛💚💙💜😍

Hi Sherry!! I've had that happen a time or two ☺ they are so funny! I used to put out feeders for them and a small swing lol they can be very territorial! Even the feeder had 4 ports they do not like to share.. next thing you know I had 3 feeders 🤣 that whir and buzzy sound when they are close is like nothing else! There was a program that we watched that was so amazing, I listed it on screen.. i think you would enjoy it! Thanks for watching ❤

I see many hummingbirds darting in and out, giving the piece motion. The colours are to die for and I love that you didn't overdo the composition. I’m a big bird watcher, have a bird garden outside my kitchen window. Indigo buntings are my very favorite & I mix an indigo paint that’s close to the bird’s color. But, everyday I’m amazed at the glory in male bird’s coloring. Soooo, excited for this one!!

HoA you really DO live up to your name! That’s a male Cardinal singing, so when you want him to sing, play a YT clip of a female calling out & another male singing. That’ll call him in. Mine will come right up to my Bose speaker trying to find the other bird.

I have not seen any red birds so I'm assuming they come in other colors lol there are these adorable little finch looking birds that have a brilliant yellow chest..
