Was an objector to Hitler and arrested for expressing protest. He got the hint and left Germany for the US in 1933. He was drafted into the army, became an officer and interrogator of pows on the combat front. His unit was at Dachu a day or two after the first liberators for an hour then moved on towards Berlin.

The survivor- liberator spoke very well. There was no need for anyone to interview him. The interviewer was a poor listener, making the man repeat points he already made. But the survivor- liberator story was very compelling. I was willing to endure the terrible interviewer's clumsy questions.

The interviewers makes or brakes the interview. Someone should have warned this interviewer that this is not supposed to be a police interrogation.

Very interesting. He said that by 1933 his family could no longer endure the brutality and attacks from Nazis but Hitler was only appointed in 1933 and still had to abide by existing laws. They only achieved full dictatorial power (and thus could abuse that power) after the death of Hindenburg in Aug of 1934. It sounded a lot more like his family very understandably moved from the small village to pursue much more lucrative business opportunities and culture/social activities like movies in larger places.
