Thats correct, the JF blade drum cuts upwards, throwing the fodder right out of the pipe. Conventional self propelled harvesters cut downwards, taking the fodder a half revolution through the cage, then throw it against the impeller blades where the longitudinal movement is stopped, and it has to be accelerated once again to be thrown out of the pipe.

There must be a very efficient power transfer in the whole set up because there is a huge amount of forage going through there

are the drive trains beefed up much from the smaller models? what is the maxium power you could reliably put on these harvesters?

only the early 900 series with square nose had a 6.9 liter MAN engine, the same medium duty truck engine as in the 800 powershift series, with poor low end torque. All recent 900 models have the 7.2 liter Deutz 2013 series engine

@sasop117 nice set up, would rather the jf though with bout twice the power, but what am i complaining bout we have a jd 6850 sfph at home

Diesels get to work hard for long periods of time. I drive a KW 900 ,do heavy haul with it, got a Cat C 15 in it putting out over 600 hp. The only limit is has now is the size of the radiator.Other than that she keeps on a going

i wonder how long before failures start to occur... Fendts that size, never get worked hard for hours, in Europe...

Cat C15 is a different class of duty than the 7.2 liter Deutz...

I've worked on Deutz engines before.. believe me, they dont make them like they used to, with the 912/913 series engines.

@RobinFarm yeah that true, but you need big tractor which is why its not suitable for everyone i guess

this guy imports jf harvesters, i think he modifies them then to suit the extra power, jf could really make a go at it and make a real spfh beating machine but for some reason they skimp on the drive line.
