So glad you're talking about the "legacies" of these celebrity figures, always glorifying these characters when the truth is way different! Much like Princess Diana...I thought she was a saint, but thanks to Prince Harry, SHOVING HIS MOTHER'S MEMORY in my face, I started researching her story and it turns out Princess Di WAS A BIT UNSTABLE, to a degree, and used the PR machine and press to upstage her ex, and provoke the public's hate for Camilla. I had such a beautiful image of her....THANKS FOR RUINING THAT FOR ME, HARRY!

I was a young woman training to be a pilot at the time of their plane crash and can remember vividly just how crazy I thought he was for flying out that night. Especially because there were 2 other souls on board that he was ultimately responsible for. Those poor parents lost 2 daughters that night! I never would have flown in those conditions, and at the time, I apparently had a lot more training and hours under my belt than he did, because unlike John, I did have my instrument rating and was working on my multi engine.

The airplane accident was covered in an episode of the highly rated TV show "Air Disasters." Of great significance, his wife and her sister arrived at the airport an hour behind schedule. As the plane lifted off not too long before sunset, he was then required to fly over the water at night. If the girls had arrived at the airport on time, the entire flight would have been in daylight. Everything would likely have gone well.

I'm a guy and I thought John Kennedy was flawlessly handsome, well-built and personable. Had he lived, I do believe that if he wanted it, he would have become the President of the U.S. He was like a male Princess Diana without the scandal. I do not believe he had a "death wish," he was what they call a "thrill-seeker." He had a great sense of humor. But like his father, he was reckless. John's fatal flaw was hubris. His mother Jacqueline was very concerned about this and had a premonition that his flying would end in disaster. She believed he was absent minded, accident-prone, clumsy and never prepared himself much before a challenge.

@user. Your right about what his mother said about him...he was the only person ever to get LOST on a safari in Africa. He was a LOON a DoDo. People were tricked into his circle only to to find nothing between his ears. A GOOD President!!! Well could have been as GOOD as Byedumb I guess

At the time, the press was surprised because JFK Jr was so "cautious". I remember Andrea Mitchell making the comment that JFK Jr was so cautious, but then in the next breath mentioned how he broke his arm recently skiing.
