This is so far, the most well researched among the SM evolutions. Though the H.O.T debut song is definitely not Candy, you never missed majority of the artists. Unlike others that missed a lot like Fly to the Sky, The Grace, Shinhwa, Zhang Li Yin, BoA (surprisingly), etc. Though I think you could've included S. It includes Kangta, Shin Hye Sung and Lee Ji Hoon. It was like a special/project group, not an official one so yeah.

For those who are confused about nct they're are all one group (u, 127 and dream) in total it is about 15 members (correct me if I'm wrong). It's confusing but in dream they want to keep the average age small and the oldest mark who has been in all 3 units is born in 1999 and will most likely not in dream anymore but that is a speculation and is not proven. If anyone needs help on who is who and age I'll gladly help and the fandom name is NCTzins or something like that I can't spell it to save my life.

August 2017 I still have no idea what NCT is all about. Are they a different group? Are they a unit of some sort? Why are there members that are in all NCT groups?

NCT is a group with an "infinite" number of members. Not that the world is a part of it, but the number of member can go up forever, but also go down since the members can leave (NCT, not SM) whenever they decide to. NCT U, 127 and Dream (+others to come) are Units of the group. Each one has a certain amount of members, but they can be added or perhaps removed. Let's start with NCT U. NCT U is the main unit of NCT. You can say that it represents the group. This unit can promote wherever and do any music style, as shown with "7th Sense" and "Without You." The members can also be different during the same time. Like with "7th Sense" you had 5 members and the other one a trio with a member that wasn't a part of "7th Sense" (Taeil). Then NCT 127. This unit will mainly let see only promote in Seoul, and since kpop is based in the capital, NCT 127 is the unit that has the most comebacks and you can literally see it as a normal group. They promote normally, have the same music genres since debut, and I'm sure SM plans on keeping the same members for a long while (only adding or keeping it the same). Last but not least, NCT DREAM is like the baby unit haha. All young members go there (all those under 18). I'm sure it is supposed to be a rotational unit in which when a member reaches a certain age, he leaves ("graduates" like After School or how Super Junior was supposed to be). Mark is 18 but still in it so probably till he doesn't look like a child anymore. And yeah the concept is pretty clear, bubbly-dreamy-bright and innocent. Not particularly cute, but a concept fit for their age. I hope this helps.

Also Mark is the only one in all units for a pretty clear reason. He fits perfectly in all of them. NCT U since as the best rapper, it'd have been such a waste if SM didn't debut him with the first unit that represents the whole group. NCT 127 because it's a hip hop group with intense choreos, his rapping, dancing and writing skills are needed. NCT Dream since all underage members go there. It may be a lot of work, but he seems to enjoy it. And it's also extra money lol.

Sm ent. Would have been wonderful, had they not have issues with their artists being not properly compensated , as well as the unfair income percentage cut portions between sm and their artists. They allegedly are the only agency that gives less portions to their artists and the agency takes more than half. (Artists 30-70 agency, allegedly).

They aren't SM artists. As the name suggests it is an SM entertainment evolution, NOT Kpop evolution. Sechskies is from DSP before (They signed with YG in 2017 for their comeback). As for Seo Taiji, I don't know what company.
