it didnt hit because of the elevation between river and lane/jungle, usually for skill shots it shows your hitting them, but if you would look at it from a different angle or something, it'll show you're off the target...(at minute 9:05)

You should try full AD yorick and build grudge second item after sunderer! The 30% slow from grudge is constantly applied because the melee attacks from the ghouls counts as ability dmg! Perma 30% slow if you hit your E! It’s so much fun and you can’t be kited!
